Overview: The Division of Urgent Care at Childrens Mercy Kansas City is seeking full-time board certified/eligible General Pediatricians for its Urgent Care facilities. Board certification is expected within 3 years of completion of training for this position. CMH Urgent Care centers are staffed by pediatric-trained physicians and advanced practice providers. It offers on-site labs, x-rays, respiratory treatment, intravenous hydration, and medication administration. The physicians work in cooperation and collaboration with community primary care providers. The position primarily involves clinical responsibilities. Physicians must be BLS certified and must be comfortable caring for pediatric patients with urgent medical needs. CMH Urgent Care provides care to pediatric patients with illnesses or injuries that require prompt medical treatment. Procedures performed in urgent care include minor laceration repairs, foreign body removals, and incision and drainage of simple abscesses. We work with community pediatric caregivers for continuity of care for our pediatric patients and families. We offer urgent care services at 3 locations in the KC metropolitan area: Blue Valley (Overland Park, KS), East (Independence, MO), and Northland (Kansas City, MO). These sites provide nearly 100,000 patient visits per year. We have approximately 35 Urgent Care physicians in the division including full and part-time positions. The Urgent Care Center hours of operation are from 10 am to 8pm every day. We see patients seven days a week, 365 days a year. Childrens Mercy utilizes Cerner electronic medical records for all records. Comfort working with electronic medical records is a requirement. The duties and responsibilities of this position are primarily clinical with administrative and academic components integrated into the practice. Physicians are expected to apply for appointment at an Assistant Professor rank or greater with the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine and the University of Kansas School of Medicine. Physicians also have the opportunity to serve on hospital and division committees to support quality improvement efforts, clinical practice guideline development, and other initiatives.
