Position Summary : The Human Resource Manager plays a crucial role in coordinating all administrative activities related to Ohio Dominican University's personnel. This position has the primary responsibility for all functional areas of Human Resources including compensation and benefits; employee/labor relations; recruitment and staffing; training and development; retirement administration; performance evaluation administration; and legal compliance. Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities : Department Administration: Manages the staffing process: This includes recruiting, interviewing, hiring and onboarding new employees. Ensures job descriptions are up to date and compliant with all local, state, and federal regulations. Nurtures a positive working environment. In-depth knowledge of HR principles, practices, and legal requirements. Provides support and guidance to the HR staff. Maintains HR systems and processes. Manages outside relationships with service providers, brokers, employment agencies, and other partners. Compensation and Benefits: Oversees benefits administration and benefit enrollments. Ensures employee benefit related questions and concerns are resolved. Ensures all company HR policies are applied consistently. Approves Employee Tuition Grants and coordinates paperwork with Financial Aid. Serves on and coordinates the University Retirement Plan 403(b) Committee. Employee Relations: Serves as the University's EEO Officer and Privacy Officer for HIPAA. Investigates employee issues and conflicts and brings them to resolution. Updates the Employee Handbook and makes recommendations regarding the faculty handbook. Develops effective employee relations and communications programs; administers and processes the complaints of staff members. Ensures the organization's compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Human Resources Development: Develops training materials and performance management programs to help ensure employees understand their job responsibilities including supervisory skills, harassment and discrimination, diversity, and leadership. Partners with leadership to ensure strategic HR goals are aligned with university initiatives. Participates in professional development and training. Occupational Health, Safety, and Security: Responsible for the administration and compliance of Workers' Compensation, including conducting accident investigations and maintaining contact with injured employees. Workforce Planning and Employment: Responsible for monitoring all recruitment programs for their effectiveness and adherence to applicable laws. Partners with hiring managers to source qualified candidates for open positions. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications and Skills : Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field; Master's degree preferred 5 years of progressive experience in human resources and leadership Experience in Higher Education or other not-for-profit highly preferred PHR or SPHR certification preferred Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office with Colleague experience a plus High level of integrity, ethics, professionalism, and diplomacy Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion. People oriented and results driven. Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
