As the Senior Finance Analy st for ERP Implementation, you will be responsible for successfully facilitating the implementation strategies for the financial modules of the new ERP system. The position will be responsible for developing sound efficient financial workflows that follow best practices for internal controls and mirror workflows in the current policies and procedures. In collaboration with interdepartmental staff, the incumbent will be a central facilitator in defining functional requirements, refining our technology choices, supporting and coordinating internal and external architecture, and technical teams to ensure a smooth implementation transition to the new ERP along with assisting with training and implementation. This is a full-time, limited-term position scheduled currently scheduled to end December 31, 2026. This role is ideal for a self-starter with strong communication and finance skills. We will be looking for your expertise in prior ERP implementations, project management and best practices in financial accounting. This position may be eligible for a telework arrangement, up to 2 days remote, based on the operational needs of the City and specific Department. Regardless of job title or telework arrangement, City of Renton employees must reside in Washington State and within a reasonable distance to their worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Coordinate meetings and/or committees, prepare meeting agendas, and facilitate information sharing and collaboration between departments city-wide. Act as a finance department liaison to one or more internal City Departments; assist supported departments in budget development and on-going budget review and management. Work with departments to develop strategies and solutions to achieve their goals within parameters of federal, state, local, and City laws and regulations. Analyze department financial activity for accuracy, identify questionable items, and provide recommendations for resolution. Conduct research, interpret governing laws and regulations, and make recommendations. Perform cost versus benefit analysis and develop logical and ethical recommendations. Prepare and present financial reports including variance analysis, short-and long-term projections, and other necessary correspondence to Directors, Administrators, Elected Officials, employees and the public. Conduct research and draft financial policies for supervisor review. Contribute to an environment of teamwork and respect. Foster a culture of equity and inclusion by recognizing the diverse needs and perspectives of groups and individuals. Remain current with relevant technological advancements as it relates to the position. Participate in and help provide cross-training in processes as directed by management to ensure a well-rounded team for coverage purposes. Maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance. Perform other duties as assigned. May be assigned to support City priorities during emergencies. ERP Implementation Duties Also Include: Assess current financial policies and procedures, develop ideal workflow to be used with the new ERP system, ensuring key financial controls are incorporated. Work closely with internal/external finance and technical teams. Evaluate how system changes will affect workflow, data and reporting. Recommend changes based on evaluation and input. Work with the ERP project team to identify a key group of core users who will transition data from the old system to the new. Ensure converted data is sound and ensure balances agree before moving from the old system to the new system. Work with finance leads to determine how cash balances and other balance sheet items should be accounted for into the new system. Research, communicate, document and manage changes that surface during design and implementation. Develop and track project requirements, phasing and scheduling with the implementation team. Monitor and manage functional, schedule, and cost risks for the project. Communicate, in close collaboration with the ERP shareholders, project status at scheduled meetings and serve as a central source of project information. Manage and act as primary liaison between consultant, software provider, and ERP team. Perform the role of "super-user" responsible to learn new processes and solutions for every department. Be cross functional expert and internal "go-to" person once the implementation is complete. Manage, in close collaboration with the ERP team, the day-to-day aspects of training and testing of the Finance models before launch. Work with consultant and software team to develop a training curriculum for finance staff, as well as citywide staff on ERP software. Training materials should include user guides and job aids. Training preparation should be conducted both in-person and online. Identify key power users who can be trained first and then train others. Work with key finance team to identify various reporting that will be needed from the new system. Work with the ERP team, develop reports using ERP report writer tools, with supporting dashboards as required. Develop job aids for various types of users to perform reports. Train staff on report writing. Develop accurate documentation of the finance modules of the system. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or closely related field. Minimum 4 years of progressively responsible experience in accounting, auditing, budgeting, financial analysis, and public finance. Or 8 years of relevant experience and education.
