About the job Materials Manager Job Title: Materials Manager Compensation: $95,000 (based on experience) Position Overview: As the Materials Manager, you will be responsible for managing the flow of materials from suppliers to production to ensure on-time delivery and optimal inventory levels. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop and implement strategies for improving efficiency, reducing costs, and maintaining high-quality standards. Key Responsibilities: - Develop and implement materials management strategies to ensure timely delivery of materials and components to support production schedules - Oversee the procurement process, including negotiating contracts, managing supplier relationships, and monitoring inventory levels - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to forecast demand and plan production schedules - Monitor and analyze inventory levels to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements - Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers to ensure timely delivery of high-quality materials - Implement and maintain inventory control processes to minimize waste and maximize efficiency - Lead and develop a team of materials specialists to ensure smooth operations and continuous improvement - Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to identify opportunities for improvement and cost savings Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, or a related field - Minimum of 5 years of experience in materials management, preferably in a manufacturing environment - Strong knowledge of supply chain principles and inventory management techniques - Experience with ERP systems and inventory management software - Excellent communication and negotiation skills - Strong leadership and team management skills - Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment Location: Madison Heights, MI
