SUMMARY The Tax Specialist will be responsible for managing the Tax Compliance and help design and implement tax policies and strategies for the US and Canada operations. The Specialist will provide strong knowledge of GAAP and guide the organization on proper accounting principles while identifying and implementing process improvements. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned: Ensure timely and accurate Sales and Use tax reporting and payment utilizing Avalara and Vertex software Work with Grant Thornton to ensure timely and accurate filing of Personal Property Taxes Ensure timely and accurate filing and payment of Business Licenses and Taxes Manage the requests of the KPMG tax team for the US and Canadian tax provisions and returns Coordinate and manage the 1099 filing File GST/HST tax return in Canada and coordinate tax payments Manage U.S. indirect Tax audits and ensure compliant and consistent tax audit strategies Maintain written and oral communications between the company and all relevant third parties and regulatory agencies Preparation of transfer pricing documentation and support the outsourced transfer pricing team Support the annual and tax audit for the tax related requests Record tax related journal entries and reconciliation of the balance sheet accounts related to the taxes Help set tax policies, ensure compliance and advise executive leadership on best practices and emerging issues related to tax Coordinate more complex accounting projects and initiatives with other members of the accounting and finance team or with other departments QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in accounting, finance, or related field Minimum 5 years of experience as tax professional Ability to juggle multiple requests and apply judgment to prioritize and respond accordingly Strong interpersonal and effective communication skills; proactive and comprehensive Strong knowledge of GAAP; CPA or similar qualification preferred Good understanding of Canadian taxation, GST/ HST taxes In depth understanding and experience with accounting and finance processes Expertise in driving continuous improvement and business process management Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical skills Experience with SAP S4/HANA Public Cloud, Microsoft Dynamics NAV, Jet Reports, Power BI, or Avalara and Vertex a plus EEOE Annual salary range: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00
