DESCRIPTION OF WORK In this position, you will ensure the efficient operation of the water treatment plant under normal and emergency conditions, utilizing manual and automated control systems. Your duties include conducting routine and non-routine maintenance, cleaning equipment, and making minor repairs. You will operate and maintain pumps, valves, chlorinators, chemical feeders, compressors, and laboratory equipment to support a 1.2 million-gallon facility. Daily laboratory testing and equipment calibration will ensure compliance with Department of Environmental Protection regulations, including proper chemical dosing. Additionally, you will supervise inmate workers, manage tools, maintain a safe work environment, and keep inventory records of caustic and toxic supplies in line with regulations. Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment, 40 hour per week Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Wednesday through Sunday, with a paid lunch. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirement: One year of experience in the operation and maintenance of a water treatment plant. Special Requirements: You must possess a valid certificate issued by the Pennsylvania State Board for Certification of Water and Wastewater Systems Operators as a water treatment plant operator that is equal to or higher than a Class C with subclasses 1, 7, 8, and 11. You must possess a valid Class E certificate issued by the Pennsylvania State Board for Certification of Water and Wastewater Systems Operators. You must possess a valid Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent that is not currently under suspension. Additional Requirements: Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
