Together, we shape our identity and drive transformative change for our clients Job Overview: We're looking for a bold, self-starter to help expand IPMG's footprint across the East Coast. As a Business Development Rep, you'll take the lead in growing our workers' compensation business and cross-selling exciting IPMG products in dynamic markets such as NC, GA, SC, VA, FL, CT, TN, and PA. In this role, you'll get to: Build relationships with independent insurance agents, helping them discover the full value of IPMG's offerings. Travel across your territory, representing IPMG at trade shows and on-site visits, all while making meaningful connections. Drive growth by seeking out new business opportunities and collaborating with brokers, underwriters, and account managers to close deals and renew accounts. This position will operate remotely and self-directed from NC or TN, while having the support of an experienced team. Essential Functions: Work independently to create new revenue for the Brokerage unit and develop new ideas to improve processes Effectively price and select risks to achieve company goals Utilize all available sources of information for underwriting purposes, including carrier websites' rating tools, NCCI, WCIRB, state business websites, general internet navigation, etc. Consistently meet corporate goals for individual and team production Share unit and division goals of carrier volume and loss ratio levels to qualify for carriers' contingency/profit sharing Visit new and existing agents in the Eastern territory Write new business and retain WC premium via pricing, commission negotiation, and proper risk decisions Handle all aspects of a book of business, including revenue goals and loss ratios Generate new business leads Identify missed opportunities with current agents where IPMG can help write more business. Review, analyze, and price all types of WC business, both new and renewal Educate agents on other insurance products and services provided by IPMG. This includes but not limited to TPA, Risk Management, and Benefits Review retail agent's profiles to identify other services that IPMG could offer to Maximize profit. Maintain organization via data entry of emails, quotes, supplementals, and more Assist others in the WC unit as needed, including other territories Participate in carrier outings and state trade shows Communicate promptly with producers and companies via phone and email Follow proper workflow procedures including policies, endorsements, audits, cancellations, reinstatements, binding, invoicing, loss runs, risk modsheets, etc. Required Qualifications: 0-5 years' experience in insurance or a college degree Extensive knowledge of all Microsoft Office Programs Comfortable working in a high-volume, fast-paced production environment Strong data entry experience Ability to work independently, prioritize, and multi-task Resourceful, organized, self-directed approach Desire to learn and grow within the insurance industry Insurance Producer's License for Casualty and Fire, or the ability to obtain licensure quickly Preferred Qualifications: Experience handling a WC book of business An established network of agency connections in the Eastern region Proficiency with an insurance policy management system (i.e. AIM) and Hubspot Experience working remotely Supervisory Functions: None Nonessential Functions: Additional tasks as requested by management. Job Status and Expected Hours: Full-time position and is an exempt position. August through January is our busy season that may require overtime. IPMG's core hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and we also offer alternative flex hour options that must be approved by management. For example, Monday through Friday 7:40 a.m. to 5 p.m but off every other Friday. All employee owners must work 37.5 hours each week to maintain full-time status. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as essential functions demand. Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee owner to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Work Environment: The job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. Travel Requirements: This position will require traveling up to 50% of your time to develop and grow the territory. Travel as needed in-state and out-of-state to visit agents, work trade shows/conventions, attend carrier functions, and visit IPMG offices. Overnight travel will be required as needed.
