Description The Applied Science Technician I is part of a well-coordinated floriculture team and will be responsible for supporting the culturing of cannabis plants in an aseptic environment for commercial production. The technician also supports trial experiments in the garden through a variety of activities. The ideal candidate will excel as a team member within a tightly controlled, state regulated system and adhere to timelines. A Curio Applied Science tech must also focus on the safety of employees and maintain a very clean facility and lab. Please note: This position involves working with plant material, which may include exposure to pollen, allergens, and other plant-related substances. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Support and assist in aseptic micropropagation methodologies for mass scale clone production. Collect nodal stem samples for use in micro-propagation of cannabis. Record data in laboratory notebook and/or Excel. Operation of laboratory equipment in a safe manner. Assure cleanliness and organization of glassware, plastic ware, and other supplies as needed. Assure cleanliness of lab environment. Maintain an organized work environment. Ability to execute techniques consistently. Assists the Applied Science Supervisor and Applied Science Director with proper documentation of all applicable activities in accordance with standards set by the State and the company. Learns new laboratory techniques and using new equipment with instruction. Supports experiments in the garden and follows all floriculture SOPS. Helps harvest, buck, label, and/or trim trial plants as needed. Assists with bottom pruning, defioliation, irrigation, transplanting, pinching, and/or releasing biologicals in R&D rooms as needed. Willingness to work in tight spaces and loud environments. Experience using Excel, Autoclave, Media dispenser, laminar Flow hood Ability to work around chemicals and fertilizers safely. Willingness to learn scientific concepts and use of scientific equipment. Supervisory Responsibilities: No direct supervisory responsibility for others.
