Job Description Client Information - A nonprofit community center founded in 1984. Services include preschool, food pantry, Senior Program, GED/HSE program and ESL program. Position Summary - The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is tasked with overseeing the center's financial operations, ensuring its financial health and long-term sustainability. This role includes managing financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis and compliance. The CFO will collaborate closely with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to craft and execute financial strategies that align with and advance the center's mission and objectives. Major Responsibilities Financial Management Develop and executive financial strategies that align with and promote the center's mission and objectives. Oversee and manage all aspects of financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records, including the general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, payroll and other financial systems. Prepare and deliver financial reports to the Executive Director and Board of Directors, offering analysis and recommendations as necessary. Ensure compliance with all financial reporting and regulatory obligations, including tax filings, audits and other reporting requirements. Manage relationships with external partners, such as banks, auditors, and other financial service providers. Budgeting and Forecasting Lead and manage the annual budgeting process, collaborating closely with program managers and other stakeholders to create realistic and attainable budgets. Track actual performance against the budget, providing regular updates and analysis to the Executive Director and Board of Directors. Develop and maintain financial forecasting models that support long-term financial planning and information decision-making. Strategic Planning and Leadership • Collaborate with the Executive Director and senior leadership to develop and implement strategic plans and objectives that align with the organization's mission and vision. Lead the Finance Committee, working with members to offer strategic financial guidance and support to the organization. Provide leadership and mentorship to the finance team, promoting a culture of continuous improvements and professional growth. Work closely with other senior leaders to design and execute strategies that advance the organization's mission and objectives. Board Relations and Reporting Report on the financial performance of the center to the Board of Directors, including regular updates on budget performance, forecasts, and financial risks and opportunities. Collaborate with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to develop and implement financial policies and procedures that align with the center's values and strategic goals. Represent the center internal and external events and meetings, providing financial guidance and support as needed. Tax Filing and Compliance Ensure the center meets all tax filing and compliance requirements, maintaining adherence to relevant laws and regulations. Manage relationships with external auditors and financial service providers to guarantee compliance with all reporting and regulatory standards. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in finance, Account, or a related field (master's degree or CPA preferred). 7-10 years of experience in financial management, including 3-5 years in a senior leadership position within a non-profit organization. Deep understanding of nonprofit accounting principles, grant management, and compliance requirements. Demonstrated expertise in strategic financial planning, budgeting and analysis. Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills. Dedication to the mission and values of the center. Starting salary $90,000 to $100,000. Competitive benefits and incentives.
