Overview Buildings & General Services (BGS) at the State of Vermont has an exciting opportunity with room for growth as an Institutional Custodian. These positions are assigned to the new River Valley Therapeutic Residence in Essex. These positions will provide custodial and grounds maintenance for the new residential style facility located in a quiet country setting. A valid driver's license and multiple background checks are required. There are 2 full-time positions. Please indicate if you have a shift perference on your application. 6am to 2:30pm, Sunday through Thursday. This is an interim position. 12pm to 8:30pm, Tuesday through Saturday. Environmental Factors Duties are performed in a hospital or rehabilitation environment, including office, classroom, and patient care settings. Direct interaction with patients or residents may be extensive, leading to potential exposure to infectious disease or physical injury. Duties may, at times, extend beyond the normal daytime and work week hours. Must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather. Good physical condition and ability to climb ladders and lift heavy weights and equipment (up to 60 lbs.) is necessary. Some overtime may be required. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent AND three (3) years or more experience of building custodial work that included floor maintenance tasks such as stripping and waxing floors and carpet extraction. OR Two (2) years as a BGS Custodian II. Special Requirements Some positions in this class require a valid driver's license and own transportation for travel between work locations. Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position.
