Reporting to and in collaboration with the Executive Director of Strategic Solutions, the Armstrong Institute for Patient Safety and Quality at Johns Hopkins Medicine is seeking a Business Development & Outreach Manager to formulate, oversee, and implement growth strategy, business development, and outreach efforts to increase the impact of Armstrong's research, educational programs, and expertise to increase revenue. This role will advance the institute's goals of eliminating preventable harm, improving patient outcomes and patient/family experience, reducing waste/cost in healthcare delivery, and achieving health equity for internal and external stakeholders. Specific Duties & Responsibilities Works collaboratively with faculty and staff throughout the Armstrong Institute and JHM to assess areas for programmatic growth, and formulate and drive plans for business development, marketing and outreach. Develops relationships with internal and external health system and institutional leaders and with potential collaborators and clients in government entities, foundations, industry, healthcare organizations, and academic institutions. Develops and executes a comprehensive, sustainable business development and marketing strategy, under the direction of Armstrong Institute leaders, for Armstrong affiliated consulting and educational engagements and conferences, including but not limited to RISE, CUSP, CRP, TeamSTEPPS, Human Factors, Diagnostic Excellence, Data Analytics, JH-AMP (Activity and Mobility), Safe Tower, Lean/Sigma, Quality and Safety, Patient Experience, High Reliability Assessments, and International Programs. Creates and executes marketing initiatives in coordination with the JHM marketing departments, manages communications (e.g., social media, outreach, fundraising, emails, press releases, print materials); and supports event planning and execution. Responsible for customer acquisition, revenue growth, and identifying opportunities for collaboration. Creates and drives efforts to meet KPIs; oversees sales and revenue capture for programs. Meets revenue and cost targets. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Self-driven, ability to work independently. Ability to engage with and influence diverse stakeholders. Detail-oriented with ability to oversee finances and marketing and outreach materials. Familiarity with healthcare systems and patient safety and quality programs; interest in learning more about them and developing patient safety, quality, and healthcare service improvement business lines. Familiarity with project management and budget tracking methods; willingness to learn them. Experience with Microsoft Office programs and social media. Willingness to travel for events as needed (likely no more than 20% time). Proven relationship management and customer engagement experience. Enthusiastic dealmaker with an ability to relate to healthcare customers and stakeholders. Minimum Qualifications Master's Degree in related field of study. Five (5) years of relevant experience. Additional relevant experience and/or training may substitute for some education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula. Preferred Qualifications Ten years of business or marketing experience. Knowledge and experience in healthcare delivery, patient safety, healthcare quality, performance improvement, healthcare regulation, pay for performance, and public reporting. Demonstrated ability to lead business development and marketing initiatives. Experience in healthcare organizations.
