Hi, we're Oscar. We're hiring a Senior Software Engineer I, Payment Integrity to join our Engineering team. About the role In this role, you will work directly with the Chief Architect and top-notch engineers to develop a cutting-edge claims system at the core of the most innovative company in healthcare. You will be responsible for scaling our claims system to adjudicate 10+ million claims per day, enabling new levels of analytical decision-making. You will leverage machine learning to identify fraud, waste, and abuse in claims, improving system integrity and enabling cost-saving measures. You will solve large-scale technical problems, from optimizing data processing pipelines to ensuring high system reliability and performance. You will work alongside some of the best engineers in the industry in an environment that fosters collaboration, innovation, and engineering excellence. You will partner with senior business leaders and the Chief Architect to deliver high-impact, high-visibility projects that shape the company's direction and strategy. This is a unique opportunity to tackle complex, meaningful challenges that will shape the future of healthcare. You will report to the Chief Architect. This is a hybrid role in our New York City office (in Hudson Square). You will work part of the time in the office and part of the time remote / work-from-home. #LI-Hybrid Pay Transparency: The base pay for this role is: $158,400 - $207,900 per year. You are also eligible for employee benefits, participation in Oscar's unlimited vacation program, company equity grants, and annual performance bonuses. Responsibilities Become the expert on your team's business and technical domains. Lead the planning, execution and release of complex technical projects. Work with partners, product managers, and designers to solve challenging problems. Collaborate with other engineers on the team to improve technology and apply best practices. Implement step-wise technical migrations of our existing services and applications. Own small to medium features or infrastructure projects from technical design through completion with little required guidance. Independent contributor to their team. Work effectively across the codebase with appropriate guidance from code owners. Make steady, well-paced progress without requiring frequent significant feedback from more senior engineers. Compliance with all applicable laws and regulations Other duties as assigned Qualifications 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, working with a variety of technologies, and have increasingly impactful accomplishments Experience proposing, experimenting, and iterating, whether it be a new shiny technology or an arcane, ill-conceived data structure; our company may be new, but the health industry isn't! Experience with technical contributions, improving the quality of what you create, and are excited to build fault-tolerant, and scalable software systems. Demonstrates solid understanding of the practical application of CS concepts within their team.
