Reporting to the Head of US Consultant Relations, the SVP, Consultant Advisor will be an effective liaison between assigned consultant relationships across the US, focused on global regional boutique consulting firms, and the broader distribution and investment teams, ensuring that they are kept informed on all relevant activity at Franklin Templeton and with mutual clients. The successful candidate will focus on building and maintaining relationships with the manager research teams at consultants, while also covering field consultants, OCIO teams and other important business relationships within consulting firms. Overall, the successful candidate will coordinate consultant activities to maintain existing relationships, deepen relationships where appropriate, and develop new relationships for the firm's investment strategies across all Franklin Templeton business units. What are the ongoing responsibilities of an SVP, Consultant Advisor? Maintain contact with clients and consultants, presenting at regular meetings and dealing with problems as they arise. Ensure the high standards of the consultant relations function are fulfilled. This includes, but is not limited to, understanding client needs, ongoing contact with consultants, information reporting and dealing with questions as they arise. Maintain and expand investment and portfolio knowledge, through self-driven research as well as portfolio discussions within the investment teams. Successfully and effectively lead a number of consultant relationships across the US institutional market. Understand consulting firm's strategic initiatives and needs to become a trusted solution advisor. Ensure consultant requirements are met through collaborative internal engagement with other Franklin Templeton departments. Ensure consultants views/ratings are communicated to key internal stakeholders. Build and broaden consultant relationships, as appropriate. Collaborate with and support the Business Development teams in their efforts, as appropriate. Partner and coordinate with other Franklin Templeton specialist investment managers' consultant relations teams, as needed. Make a valuable contribution to knowledge sharing within the firm. Enter activity data into the firm's CRM database on a regular basis and update other information as appropriate. Actively participate in internal product groups, projects and/or development of staff. Provide market intelligence to the firm on the changing nature of demand from institutional clients. Propose and deliver new ways of delivering strategy information to external and internal audiences across a range of formats. What ideal qualifications, skills and experience would help someone to be successful? The SVP, Consultant Advisor should be proactive, team-oriented and approach their work with a positive can-do attitude that inspires colleagues at all levels. At least 10 years' experience and an established track record of results and strategic and operational excellence in a consultant relations role. Excellent communication skills and product knowledge across multiple asset classes, including traditional and alternative strategies. Possess strong technical and professional skills, experience, and knowledge in position-related areas and be up-to-date on current developments in the asset management industry. Established reputation in the investment consultant community as a trusted advisor, so that the firm will be aware of long-term trends and tactical thinking in the market. Successful experience actively contributing to the enhancement and execution of a business development effort founded on investment consultants as a driver of business. A demonstrated strong understanding of distribution and service in the asset management industry. Results orientated with a high degree of professional and corporate responsibility. Demonstrable capability to construct and implement strategic planning and the provision of consistent and effective management information. Possess an understanding of what it takes to preserve and enhance investment consultant relationships and to possess a client centric mindset. Sound commercial acumen and the ability to build and develop relationships with investment consultants and internal stakeholders. Effectively and efficiently meet consultant requests by coordinating and working well with multiple investment and non-investment groups to help facilitate and execute on requests. Proven ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented culture. Experience navigating a large and complex organization. Must be able to work independently and to communicate clearly and concisely. Strong work ethic - detail oriented, driven, self-motivated with a sense of accountability. Bachelor's degree from an esteemed academic institution. MBA and/or CFA preferred. Ability to travel. There are several factors taken into consideration in making compensation decisions including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. At Franklin Templeton, we apply a total reward philosophy where all aspects of compensation and benefits are taken into consideration in determining compensation.
