Position Summary The Commercial Banker is responsible for originating commercial mortgages, Commercial & Industrial (C&I) loans, and SBA 7(a) loans in alignment with the Bank's lending appetite and underwriting standards. This role is integral to driving new business and managing a portfolio of commercial clients while maintaining exceptional customer service. This Commercial Banker will take a proactive approach to business development, have a keen eye for detail in financial analysis, and a commitment to delivering high-quality client interaction. You will play a crucial part in the Bank's growth and success by originating new loans and maintaining a healthy loan portfolio. Primary Responsibilities Conducts a daily regimen of prospecting activities targeting prospective Borrowers, Brokers, Builders, Developers, Business Owners, CPAs, Attorneys, Financial Planners pursuant to sales leads and referrals intended to generate new commercial mortgages/ loans and deposits for Blue Foundry Bank. Conducts preliminary underwriting of prospective commercial mortgages/ loans to confirm adequate cash flow to service proposed debt. Partners with other Blue Foundry Bank Lenders, Business Development Officers, residential loan officers and retail banking representatives and refers leads to appropriate Blue Foundry Bank personnel. Manages portfolio loan accounts by providing consistent, proactive customer contact, timely, written loan renewal request presentations, diligent collection of past-due payments, regular, documented site visits to all new existing credits, collecting and maintaining current financial statements and updating files. Meets or exceeds a required minimum production quota of self-sourced, closed loan originations of commercial real estate (CRE) mortgages on multi-family properties with minimum ten residential units, multi-tenanted investor CRE and construction mortgages originated and closed. Originate conventional C&I & SBA related government guaranteed loans. Meets or exceeds a minimum annual commitment fee standard. Secures deposits for the Bank including operating accounts and tenant security accounts related to the type of loan being financed. Work with Branch and Deposit Operations to set up all required depository accounts for customers of the bank. Operates primarily from Blue Foundry Bank's lending offices but may also operate in branches. Operates independently but also submits to regular managerial oversight. Attends and implements training provided, directed, or facilitated by management. Submits complete loan applications, with all required signatures and customary financial documentation enclosed. Participate in process and procedural improvements to better the customer experience. Performs other duties as assigned. Position Requirements Bachelor's degree in business, finance or accounting or a minimum of three years' experience in Commercial real estate lending, C&I lending, and SBA 7a lending. Strong understanding of credit and ability to structure deals. Strong relationship development skills with the ability to drive revenue by curating products and services to address a customer needs. Deep COI relationships in the bank's geographic footprint. Ability to originate deposit products. Strong SBA 7a and 504 product, SOP, and agency program knowledge. Proficiency with Microsoft 365 Office Suite. Excellent prospecting skills, customer service, interpersonal skills, and presentation skills. Detailed knowledge and understanding of federal and state banking laws.
