You will be a primary review engineer involved with larger development projects. You will review and efficiently assist projects through the permit process. We focus on providing quality engineering reviews and creative engineering solutions in a variety of areas including road, storm drainage, geotechnical, sewer, and subdivisions while interacting with a diverse customer base. You will also have the opportunity to provide input into County codes and standards. Core Daily Responsibilities: Review Site Development Drawings (road, storm drainage, sewer, grading, erosion control) for compliance with County regulations. Review subdivisions, land use applications, and commercial/industrial building permits for traffic impacts, critical area impacts, and site access requirements. Communicate via email, phone, Microsoft Teams, Zoom and meetings with applicants, developers, builders, engineers, planners, surveyors, and other professionals. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: A cover letter and resume are required. Registration as an Engineer-in-Training and seven years of progressively responsible experience related to the position is required. A bachelor's degree from an ABET accredited program in civil engineering, or a closely related field, may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis, up to four years. As a condition of employment, you will need to authorize and complete a background check. Our benefits: Vacation (Annual Leave) After approximately six months, employees receive six days of vacation leave. Employees who leave employment with Pierce County must reimburse the employer for used furlough days based upon the number of remaining holidays. Sick Leave: Sick leave accrues on a bi-weekly basis, at the rate of one day per month.
