Title : Grants Accountant Department : Fiscal Job Location : 623 Broadway (Hybrid) Job Status : Full-Time Availability : M-F, 9-5 pm, requires flexibility during nonstandard hours FLSA : Exempt About Greenwich House: Founded in 1902 as a settlement house to help New York's increasing immigrant population adjust to life in a new country, Greenwich House today offers a variety of programs and approaches that continue to provide thousands of New Yorkers with health and wellness supports, education and personal enrichment, and skills building and cultural experiences. Position Summary: The Grant Accountant will prepare, reconcile, and submit all grant and contract-related vouchers. The Grant Accountant will maintain effective and efficient books and records and provide accurate and meaningful communication to the Director of Revenue Cycle and Grants Management. The Grant Accountant will primarily be responsible for the preparation, generation, and maintenance of all financial reports and voucher submissions. The Grant Accountant must be extensively familiar with Federal, State, and Foundation contracts and grants. Primary Responsibilities: Work closely with the financial team to ensure completion and accuracy of all grant and contract accounting. Reconciling budget to actual expense activity for all grants and contracts. Prepare financial reports and invoices for all grants to ensure timely and accurate submission to government funders. Prepare budgets and budget modifications to maximize reimbursement on all grants and contracts. Responsible for grant accounting functions, including review and preparation of budgets and amendments, preparation of grant reports and financial documentation maintenance and monthly accruals of expected grant income. Prepare all monthly and quarterly vouchers for those grants and contracts assigned. Adhere to grant guidelines and ensure GAAP compliance with all grants and contracts. Coordinates for monthly closing and assists with year-end closing; preparing monthly accruals, amortization of prepaid expenses and recording of adjusting journal entries. Prepare correspondence and interact with outside entities as needed. Analyze revenue and expenses and prepare justification of variances Analyze A/R aging reports providing recommendations for timely receivables and reimbursements Review invoices and payroll coding for assigned contracts to ensure proper classification. Prepare close-out packages in accordance with the date and methodology established for each funding source and prepare budgets, contract data and other necessary documents as required by the funding source. Prepare calculations for fringe benefits and union dues Prepare and provide reports as required and assist in other financial projects as needed. Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required. Three to five years of related fund accounting experience preferred. Excellent Interpersonal skills to engage with different stakeholders. Excellent time-management skills. Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously. Excellent oral, and written communication skills.
