The Job: The Writer is responsible for helping the museum elevate writing standards and maintain the integrity of content across diverse platforms. This role will create and refine content as well as elevate the Museum's commitment to quality and consistency in the work produced. Responsibilities Draft longform and short-form content for a variety of audiences and channels. Enhance content quality, bringing copy from good to great through meticulous editing and a deep understanding of impactful storytelling. Collaborate with marketing team to maintain and develop the Museum's style guide, acting as a vanguard of standards and quality across all content. Create narratives to ensure they are grammatically sound and aligned with the Museum's values while maintaining clarity and eliminating jargon. Collaborate across teams to offer guidance and review to writers and editors across the museum, ensuring content reflects the Museum's voice and adheres to high standards. Manage content workflows and processes to optimize efficiency and meet organizational goals. Proactively engage with content creators, acting as a supportive challenger and ensuring resources are aptly utilized. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Two (2) to three (3) years of proven experience in a writing role, preferably in a fast-paced editorial environment. Bachelor's degree is a plus. Strong understanding of digital content creation, with an ability to distill complex information into engaging, audience-specific content. Mastery of a style guide and a proactive approach to its maintenance are essential. Proficiency in managing workflows and expectations to steer content form conceptual drafts to compelling finalized copy. Excellent command of language with an ability to enforce and abide by style guide standards. Ability to evaluate copy for voice and tone, especially when optimizing for different audience profiles. Proven collaborator who can foster a team environment that encourages innovation and excellence. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously maintaining precision and attention to detail. Technical writing experience is a plus. Language: Ability to read and interpret documents and operating instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees of the organization. Mathematical: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as addition, subtraction, percentages, etc. Reasoning: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form. Physical: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally life and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Work Environment: The employee is occasionally exposed to humid and/or outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
