Overview: The Corporate Controller will be responsible for providing day-to-day leadership and oversight to the enterprises financial services functions including treasury management, accounts receivable, accounts payable, intercompany accounting and payroll processing. The Corporate Controller will also coordinate enterprise level financial reporting and analysis and be expected to collaborate closely with the functional controllers for development, property management and investment accounting. The position is also responsible for implementing and maintaining a system of internal controls that will ensure that company assets are adequately safeguarded and that all financial reporting is prepared accurately and in compliance with all financial policies. The Corporate Controller will be responsible for creating a professional work environment, which reflects the Pennrose priorities of customer service, respect and collegiality among team members, full compliance with the regulatory requirements, while following company policies and procedures and applicable regulations. The Corporate Controller reports to the Chief Accounting Officer and is expected to collaborate closely with the Chief Financial Officer and periodically report to executive management on financial matters and issues. Responsibilities: Provide leadership, inspiration and oversight to a team of dedicated accounting professionals with responsibility for corporate level general accounting functions including inter-company accounting, cash management, receivable and payables processing, balance sheet management and financial reporting. Develop and maintain systems of internal controls and operating procedures while taking responsibility for the overall integrity, accuracy and timeliness of the Companys internal and external financial statements, reports for regulatory agencies and year end audit/review/tax return workpapers. Take ownership of varying aspects of the enterprises financial reporting, planning and analysis. Collaborate closely with human resources and review for accuracy bi-weekly payroll for the Pennrose enterprise. Supervises the completion of Federal and State tax reporting requirements (including income, payroll and other local taxes, workers compensation insurance reports, benefit plan audits and other reports required by government regulation. Ensure that the accounting team is appropriately staffed with qualified professionals capable of meeting stated objectives and responsibilities. Responsible for ongoingdevelopment and training of the team members. Continuously seek opportunities to develop internal efficiencies and improve processes and procedures. Qualifications: 10-15 years of experience in accounting or finance, or a related field with 5-7 years of managerial or supervisory experience, overseeing accounting or finance teams. Bachelors degree in accounting, finance or equivalent. Real estate industry accounting experience preferred. CPA/MBA preferred. Proven leadership skills and excellent interpersonal skills. Excellent knowledge of GAAP, as well as understanding of tax concepts. Proficiency with Yardi and ADP payroll software preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Ability to manage relationships with various partners and customers. Superior financial acumen and critical thinking skills. Superior written and verbal communication skills. Superior analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work periodic flexible hours and perform in a busy, fast-paced, action-oriented environment multi-tasking work environment. Desire to excel and work collaboratively as a team player.
