GENERAL FUNCTION: The Sales Manager of Composite Decks will be responsible for driving sales growth and managing the Deck Specialist team. This position involves developing strategies to increase market share, fostering relationships with clients, and overseeing project estimates and proposals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in decking materials and construction, combined with excellent leadership and communication skills. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS: Essential: 1. Demonstrated knowledge and experience of needs analysis or consultative selling 2. Ability to plan, develop and motivate a team 3. Proven ability to exercise sound judgement in sales, leadership, and as part of a management team 8. Ability to develop a strategic sales plan that aligns with the corporate strategic plan 9. Demonstrated ability to design, communicate, and execute effective forecasts and department budget 10. Must project professional and positive corporate image 11. Ability to effectively organize and plan daily work by defining department needs and priorities 12. Ability to evaluate department processes and procedures, recommend needed changes, and coordinate the implementation of new processes and/or procedures Preferred: 1. Strong understanding of decking materials, design principles, and installation processes 2. Strong knowledge of in-home selling methodologies and techniques Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Develop and implement effective sales strategies to achieve company revenue targets and market expansion in the decking sector 2. Analyze market trends and customer needs to identify new business opportunities 3. Recruit, train, and mentor a high-performing sales team focused on composite decking projects including sales presentations, deck design and generating proposals for prospects 4. Work with Sales Director to establish sales targets and monitor team performance to meet department goals 5. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, installers, and vendor partners in the decking industry 6. Conduct site visits with Deck Specialists that are in training, or need additional coaching 7. Review Deck Specialist proposals and sales agreements for accuracy and problem resolution 8. Collaborate with Install Managers and Project Coordinators as needed to ensure successful project execution 9. Conduct training on product knowledge, sales techniques, installation methods, and company procedures 10. Work with the Marketing team to evaluate marketing campaign effectiveness with sales results to improve lead generation and team closing percentages 11. Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed 12. Handle employee grievances in accordance with company policies and employee handbook 13. Ensure that all personnel understand and complies with all state and federal rules, regulations, and laws 14. Respond to inquiries or operational issues between departments and serve as liaison to resolve any problems or system breakdowns 15. Perform other related duties as required or assigned Working conditions: 1. Work is normally performed in an office environment with occasional travel to client job sites and home shows. 2. Normal Business Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm. 3. Weekends or Evenings as needed. MININUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: College degree in a related field Experience: 5+ years related progressive industry experience in sales leadership roles. Experience in developing effective sales teams, budgets, and sales forecasts. 3+ years of decking experience with knowledge of design, framing, and current building codes as it relates to decking. SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: A valid Michigan driver license is a condition of initial and continued employment. Approved Background check is a condition of initial and continued employment. Approved Drug Test is a contingency of initial and continued employment. Salary and Compensation Package: This position will be paid a base salary plus additional goal-based incentives.
