Must be able to work overtime and some weekends Journeyman's license required JOB SUMMARY : This individual performs routine and emergency electrical and mechanical repairs including: preventative maintenance programs. troubleshooting electrical and equipment problems. repairing electrical equipment and systems. Installation of equipment and electrical systems. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : - Installs, repairs, rebuilds and maintains electrical systems to provide power to machine tools, production equipment and lighting. - Diagnoses and programs PLCs. - Diagnosis machine malfunctions and difficulties. Disassembles, reworks, adjusts, or replaces electrical components of machines or equipment to achieve desired results. - Installs and wires control panels, distribution centers, machine tool controls, switches, timing devices and lighting systems. - Reads and interprets blueprints, schematics, machine manuals and electrical codes in order to perform safe and effective repairs and installations. - Makes emergency repairs when necessary to avoid production delays. - Performs layouts of installations. Prepares bills of material and requisitions from engineering specifications. - Leads project teams through major installations or revisions of systems and equipment. - Routinely contacts suppliers or manufacturers on part information, repair issues, improvement needs and shipping instructions. - Assists other maintenance team members in meeting department requirements. Serves as a resource to production, engineering and other plant personnel. - Maintains and improves knowledge and skill requirements in all electrical and required trade areas. - Maintains user knowledge of tools, testing equipment, measuring instruments, conveyance and material handling equipment. - Operates company vehicles, conveyance and material handling equipment. - Completes appropriate paperwork, machine documentation, panel documentation and preventative maintenance records. - Maintains a clean, organized and safe work environment. - Assists in development and implementation of quality procedures, work instructions and standards. Understands quality policy and assures compliance with ISO/IATF systems. - Trains and guides work of apprentices. ENVIRONMENTAL, HEALTH AND SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES : Performs all work in compliance with Safety and Environmental policies and procedures as well as all Federal, State and local laws. Understand the importance of conformance with all safety and environmental procedures of the environmental and safety management systems, including emergency response. Report any unsafe condition or action to his or her supervisor. Report any work-related injury to his or her supervisor within 8 hours. Never operate a machine or equipment until trained in the operating procedures, hazards, and safeguards and has been assigned to do so by the employer. Never remove, displace, destroy, or carry off any safeguard or interfere with the use by any other person. Use required personal protective equipment or devices where required. Understand your responsibility to the environmental programs, including ISO14001. Understand the actual or potential environmental consequences, when deviating from specified work instructions. Attend Environmental, Health and Safety training as required. CORE COMPETENCIES 1. Installs, repairs and maintains electrical systems 2. Provides Plant and machine preventative maintenance support 3. Diagnoses Machine malfunctions repairs and implements ways to prevent failures REQUIREMENTS : 1. High School diploma or equivalent. 2. Completion of a 4 year apprenticeship program certified by the U.S. Department of Labor. 3. Must have a class III electrical license from the state of Michigan. 4. Must obtain and maintain a valid powered industrial truck operator permit and a State of Michigan Driver's License. 5. Must be able to work with a minimum of supervision and guidance. 6. Requires the use of judgment, organization, initiative, teamwork, creativity, problem solving and commitment to tasks. 7. Must be able to read and interpret electrical schematics and have an understanding of electrical concepts, practices and theory. 8. Must have troubleshooting skills in AC/DC electrical control circuits, transformers, relay logic, LVDT's and programmable logic controllers. 9.
