17th October, 2024 Are you a bankruptcy legal secretary?Would you like to work with a top mid-sized law firm in suburban Maryland?If so, R & W Group has a fantastic new opportunity! One of our favorite law firm clients is looking for a Legal Administrative Assistant to join its Creditor's Rights Department. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Provide comprehensive administrative support to attorneys and paralegals specializing in a high-volume creditor's rights practice involving workouts, money judgments, foreclosures, bankruptcy and related case types. Manage daily filing and mailing large amounts of electronically filed documents and associated notices related to cases filed in state, federal and bankruptcy courts throughout Maryland, DC and Virginia. Type and proofread legal documents, including engagement letters, entry of appearances, and lines to request summons, and various correspondence. Manage and organize physical and digital case files, ensuring all relevant documents are properly filed and easily accessible. Schedule and coordinate meetings, hearings, and other appointments, with clients, court personnel, and other parties involved in cases. Handle and process incoming and outgoing mail. Enter deadlines, court and auction dates, and reminders on attorney and paralegal calendars. Setting up and maintaining digital and physical pleading binders, auction binders and mediation binders. Generally assist attorneys and paralegals as needed with secretarial and administrative support. Minimum of 4 days in the office per full work week. Qualifications and Skills: 5+ years of assistant/secretarial or administrative support experience in a civil litigation department/practice. Experience working with creditor's rights cases and related procedures. A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Knowledge of legal procedures, terminology, and court rules related to issuance of legal notices and scheduling. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including comfort and skill in speaking with clients. E-filing of documents in the state, federal and bankruptcy courts in Maryland (required), DC and Virginia (preferred) using MDEC, PACER and similar ECF systems. Proficient in technology, Microsoft Office (and in particular expertise in Microsoft Word) and document management software (experience in i-Manage beneficial). Proficient in online client management software such as Black Knight. This position is fully in-office for the first 90 days then hybrid (4 days in, 1 day remote)Salary of $65- 85k (depending upon experience) plus solid benefits including health insuranceGreat team.
