Electrician New Columbia Solar (NCS) is innovating the way the District of Columbia is powered. Description NCS is seeking an experienced Electrician who is detail-oriented and passionate about contributing to a more sustainable future. This role involves installing commercial solar energy systems and supporting electrical components related to renewable energy projects. Proven experience is essential to fulfilling the responsibilities of this role. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical components related to commercial solar energy systems. Requirements for Consideration Must have reliable transportation. Valid driver's license and clean driving record Full-time availability Must be comfortable working at heights. Active Electrical License Job Duties Install AC and DC electrical components such as; solar modules, inverters, main service panels and other electrical components for commercial and residential solar energy systems. Conduct electrical testing and diagnostics to ensure the safe and proper operation of photovoltaic systems. Troubleshoot, repair, and perform routine maintenance of solar energy systems. Identify potential safety hazards and adhere to safety protocols to ensure personal safety, protect fellow workers, and safeguard the public. Read and interpret engineer drawings and blueprints, instruction manuals, site plans. Apply industry knowledge to complete daily tasks. Maintain written and electronic records, including work orders, commissioning sheets, timecards, and material requests to accurately document the work performed and material used. Supervise and train apprentices and installers to teach proper and safe use of tools and best installation practices. Minimum Qualifications Journeyman or electrical license a MUST. (Please provide your license number when applying.) Minimum of 2 years of experience as an electrician in a commercial or industrial setting. Proficient in using electrical testing equipment. Education: High School diploma, GED or equivalent. Previous experience installing photovoltaic systems is preferred. Exceptional problem-solving skills. Strong communication and teamwork abilities Reliable and punctual. Positive attitude Strong understanding of electrical systems, NEC codes, and safety standards. Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions and extreme environments. (e.g., hot sun, snow, confined spaces, etc.) Extended periods of walking, standing, sitting, kneeling, reaching, bending, and/or crawling. Lifting, carrying, and walking with up to 60 pounds of tools and or equipment. Climbing up and down ladders. Working on uneven ground. Must be able to legally work in the U.S. and pass a background check and drug test Preferred Experience: Certification in renewable energy or related field. (e.g., NABCEP Entry Level certification or above) OSHA 10 or 30 5 years installing solar electrical systems. Advanced Understanding of DC & AC electrical systems Experience with photovoltaic systems, including panel installation and wiring. Knowledge of local and national electrical codes related to solar energy systems. Certification in renewable energy or related field. Familiarity with the operation and maintenance of electrical subpanels and distribution systems. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
