Role Summary/Purpose The primary role of the Risk Organization is to identify key risks, develop appropriate methods of measurement, and use these measures to monitor and control risk exposures within the portfolio. The Associate role will be responsible for a broad array of risk management functions including: the preparation of independent analysis associated with the monitoring and reporting of risks associated with the company's investment portfolio and hedging, analysis of real-time trade and deal opportunities, new sector/product and ad hoc reviews. The candidate should possess a strong interest in the fixed income and securitized products markets and be comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment. The candidate will gain exposure to a comprehensive spectrum of financial products and markets that are utilized throughout the company's diversified business segments. Essential Responsibilities Perform quantitative analysis and produce analytics to support risk decision making including detailed position reviews, VaR, and portfolio stress testing Develop and enhance methodologies for measuring, reporting and analysis of market, credit and liquidity risk within Securitized Products. Products include Agency MBS (pools, TBAs), Rates hedging instruments (Swaps and Treasuries), and Residential Credit (securities and loans) Assist the broader Risk team in ad hoc projects and provide detailed monthly analysis and presentations (both internal, materials for the Board and special topics) Liaise directly with IT, Investment teams and Risk colleagues to streamline reporting processes and model back-testing Data mining and development of new risk reports Provide information to management by assembling and summarizing data, preparing reports and presentation of results Over time, develop new processes and reports to support credit risk management: delinquencies, loss severities, individual loan and portfolio characteristics, etc. Opportunity to learn additional products as business expands, or potentially assist Operational risk team on ad hoc projects (if warranted) Qualifications/Requirements Basic Qualifications : Minimum of 4 years of risk management and fixed income products Comfortable working with risk colleagues and traders in a fast-paced, dynamic organization Display strong communication and interpersonal skills, along with analytical skills and data organization Strong expertise in Microsoft Excel Expertise in Bloomberg, PolyPaths (or other fixed income analytics system) Basic knowledge of database query language (SQL) Desired Characteristics : Familiarity with stress testing, MBS prepayment and modeling, corporate finance concepts, and statistical analysis Working knowledge of Agency MBS trading, risk characteristics; along with structural aspects, credit performance and market dynamics within non-agency RMBS (residential credit securities and whole loans) Possess a keen interest in synthesizing information and engaging in a methodical approach to work activities; ability to work independently and within a team Ability to think critically, troubleshoot issues, and propose possible solutions Eligibility Requirements: Must be willing to work in New York, NY, role is in person based in NYC Must be willing to submit to a background investigation Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States Must be willing to work additional hours as needed to complete deadline driven projects The salary range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $125,000 and $150,000/year; however, base salary offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered.
