Our current hybrid approach requires staff to work onsite a minimum of two days each week, every Tuesday and one other day, to be determined by their business unit. Hybrid staff are also welcome to come in additional days each week or may be asked to come in on other days by their manager. DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW The Strategic Communications department is responsible for developing institutional messaging; writing, editing, and curating content (short and longform); and producing print and digital products to effectively convey GBH's mission and impact to multiple audiences. It builds public support for GBH's leadership, programs, and activities through strategic communications efforts across platforms. JOB OVERVIEW An experienced writer and editor of feature articles and content, both short and long-form, to contribute stories about GBH's productions for newsletters, GBH's website, and other platforms. Manage all aspects of the production of GBH's digital annual report and other institutional reports. This position is located in Boston, MA, and requires on-site presence What you get to do: Plan, research, and write articles and other communications content that build visibility for GBH's brand and mission, programs, services, and impact, including theme development, research, conducting interviews, transcribing, writing, editing, proofreading, and uploading to the GBH website. Work closely with the GBH Creative team to curate and collect photographs/graphics/video and audio assets to accompany the articles/publications. Collaborate with and develop strong relations with departments across GBH to gather information and stories for use on multiple platforms. Maintain a bar of editorial excellence for proofreading and editing and provide editorial services, including copyediting and proofreading, to departments across GBH. Maintain and enforce the GBH Style Guide and other institutional branding and editorial resources/assets. Write at least five long-form feature articles per month for the GBH website and newsletters, review proofs and post articles online. Actively seek stories and news by staying up to date with GBH's productions and programs. Manage all aspects of the GBH annual report, including identifying theme, writing all copy, and helping with selection of images/graphics. Work well with teams across GBH. Provide high-quality creative work in a deadline-driven environment. What skills you need: Background in journalism and/or non-profit sector strongly preferred. Must be a superb writer, editor, proofreader, and researcher: fast, creative, curious, ego-free, detail-oriented, and versatile. Track record as an effective project leader who possesses excellent interpersonal and diplomacy skills and the ability to work constructively and collaboratively with different personalities. An independent self-starter and strategic thinker, able to multi-task and meet tight deadlines, but also able to work collaboratively and effectively with various teams. Comfortable with content management systems and other software Online portfolio/writing samples are required. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE A bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience is required. Minimum of 4-6 years experience developing information-rich, powerfully written, and executed communications (digital, print). Experience working collaboratively with graphic designers and an eye for good photography and graphic imagery.
