Job Description Federal Tax Manager | $130,000 to $150,000 + Bonus | Hybrid - N. Sub The Federal Tax manager will oversee all aspects of U.S. federal income tax return filings and federal audits. This role involves tax law analysis and planning, collaborating across the tax function to lead federal tax compliance efforts. Key Responsibilities: Manage and supervise all quarterly and annual U.S. federal tax compliance activities. Lead the company's response to federal tax audits, including managing examinations, handling information requests, and preparing federal protests. Prepare complex book-to-tax difference calculations for year-end income tax provisions and annual tax returns. Support M&A activity by coordinating post-merger tax integration efforts. Work with the tax accounting team to align tax financial reporting with compliance processes. Participate in company-wide system initiatives, ensuring tax requirements are considered. Monitor and analyze changes in tax regulations, communicating their impact to the Tax Department. Support the company's position during financial audits. Assist Tax Directors in analyzing risks and sustainability of tax positions in filings and financial statements. Oversee the implementation and maintenance of tax compliance software. Contribute to the pursuit of tax incentives for company expansions and new developments. Provide support for state and foreign income tax audits. Write tax technical memoranda and conduct ad-hoc tax research as needed. Develop and implement processes to meet internal controls requirements. Collaborate with the internal controls department to address deficiencies in processes or procedures. Ensure compliance with established processes and procedures, implementing corrective actions as needed. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; graduate tax degree (MST, MBA, LLM) or JD preferred. Professional certification such as CPA or IPT-CMI is desirable. At least seven years of U.S. federal tax experience with a large multinational corporation or public accounting firm. Minimum of two years of supervisory experience. Strong technical expertise in U.S. federal income tax matters. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage complex tax issues. Familiarity with ERP systems and strong knowledge of Thomson Reuters OneSource Income Tax preferred. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills. Ability to manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment. This role requires regular interaction with both internal and external stakeholders and may involve occasional travel to company facilities and professional training programs.
