Temporary - Financial Analyst - : N/A Description The overall purpose of this position is to assist management in year-end activities. He or She is responsible for assisting in safeguarding the assets of the Institute through account analysis and regular monitoring of financial transactions. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring the financial transactions recorded are recorded in NextGen Banking Central (NGBC) in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The position will process geo unit bank account template uploads, reconcile to the financial statements, and review compliance documents through the MGA Compliance Documents Portal. This role also works with other staff to assist in their understanding of accounting principles and assist in ad-hoc assignments. This position typically reports to a Senior Manager of Business Finance Solutions. The role typically functions as an individual contributor with no direct reports. This position must be able to work independently in a deadline-oriented environment and recommend process improvements to the Senior Manager. Region 10 Assistance 1. Budgets, income statements, balance sheet, bank account compliance, reserves and controls over assets such as signature authority, tax reporting and non-financial compliance matters such as COI's and Audit Processes over the units. 2. Maintain all data up to date on any database or system used to keep track the financials of all Geo Units in Region 10 3. Track, review and approve compliance application documents through the MGA Compliance Platform at year end 4. Collaboration with team members to prepare and submit all Tax, Foreign Bank Accounts & Accounting reports needed on an annual basis 5. Coordinate with the IEEE staff on accesses and processes for the volunteer Treasurers and Chairs 6. Assist IEEE staff in other offices if required during Financial Reporting season -reporting, internal controls and audit by preparing year end reports, metrics and statistics 7. Assist in the preparation and audit of Financial Reports 8. Maintain authorized signers for both Concentration Banking (CB) and Local Bank Accounts up-to-date 9. Respond to volunteer inquiries regarding financial, tax, compliance, and banking matters by researching and resolving issues 10. Provide Treasurer training for over 300 Geo Unit Volunteer Treasurers & Chairs in Region 10 with face to face and WebEx training offered throughout the year 11. Review and approve journal entries 12. Maintain the approvers for the Geo Units in Concur (Volunteer Expense Reimbursements) 13. Maintain shared drives in an organized fashion Year End 1. Assist in end-to-end process of Geo Unit year-end financial reporting and compliance documentation 2. Assist Geo Unit Volunteers with tagging the transactions in NGBC for both CB and Local Bank accounts. 3. Review all transactions that have been tagged by Geo Unit Volunteers and process them to the GL 4. Manage communication with MGA BFS Financial Analyst and keep track of the year-end financial reporting through SmartSheet 5. Reconcile transactions against bank statements before process them to the GL. 6. Assist the MGA-BFS team with any MGA year-end-related activities on a regular basis and any other ad-hoc requests. 7. Independently analyse the uploaded data and provide suggestions and solutions in case of any variances or issues. 8. He or she must be a technologically savvy worker who seeks out technological solutions to business challenges. 9. Good Communication skills, oral and written. Excellent analytical skills. NextGen Banking Central (NGBC) & Oracle Assistance 1. Process annual geo unit bank account template uploads and reconcile to the financial statements 2. Remove any inconsistencies or duplicate postings in NGBC before processing the transaction to the GL 3. Tracking, consolidating, and auditing financial data in NGBC and the general ledger to comply with the overall IEEE financial close and audit calendar. 4. Consolidate, track and audit financials in NGBC for compliance of IEEE financial policies 5. Serve as a NGBC Administer for Treasurers and Chairs and work with SPO Coordinator on system access for volunteers in Siebel as needed 6. Coordinate with IEEE staff on accesses and processes for the volunteer Treasurers & Chairs 7. Review, reconcile, and process bank upload templates (CB and local bank accounts) monthly, quarterly, for year-end consolidation 8. Provide Treasurers training on NextGen systems (Volunteer Dashboard, NGBC, Tax, Compliance Documents Portal and Financial Reporting) 9. Assist Treasurers with processing payments in NGBC as needed Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related field of interest X 3-4 years of experience Advanced portfolio-level awareness, understanding and support Excellent organizational and analytical skills and ability to manage several projects simultaneously Attention to detail and excellent communication and interpersonal skills are critical Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and many potential interruptions Ability to identify steps necessary to resolve problems as well as the ability to execute changes Must have a strong command of business English and be able to articulate program and transactional details with precision Must be a technologically savvy knowledge worker who seeks out new solutions to business challenges.
