Posting Details Position Information Position Title Senior Grants Writer Job Type Staff Position Information Futures Institute The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) Futures Institute invites applications for a full-time, three-year grant-funded position. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. University Information: The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) is the 1890-Land-Grant University in Maryland, located in a rural setting on the Delmarva Peninsula between the Atlantic Ocean and Chesapeake Bay. The major metropolitan areas of Washington D.C., Baltimore, MD, and Philadelphia, PA are within easy travel distance. Responsibilities Work collaboratively with faculty to identify, write, and submit external funding proposals. Provide direct assistance including by completing institutional and general components in applications, obtaining necessary documents, formatting, proof-reading, and submitting proposals to grant agencies within tight deadlines. Provide periodic trainings and other developmental activities to enhance the number of grants submitted and faculty participants in grant activities. Support the substantial increasing of grant income by taking leadership for grant submission quality enhancement. Expand awareness of and communication about grant opportunities that match research interests of faculty. Proactively champion enhanced participation by UMES in partnerships for grant. Provide support related to conflict of interest, security, export control, training, IRB, animal use, intellectual property, human subjects, etc. Provide excellent customer service to faculty and Futures Institute personnel. Perform all other assigned duties with a positive attitude to model a can-do work environment. Classification Business and Financial Operations Occupations Required Qualifications Master's degree from a leading R1 university. Three years of grant writing experience or equivalent academic research/writing experience. Evidence of writing and submitting successful grant applications. A proven track record of writing and securing grant funding in a leading university environment (R1). Strong research, analysis, reasoning, problem solving, time management, customer service, and organizational skills. Preferred Qualifications Ph.D. degree preferred from a US R1 university or foreign equivalent. Evidence of successfully writing grants over $1 million. Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Exceptional writing and communication skills. Ability to form collaborative partnerships. Must have the potential to develop and deploy innovative approaches to training faculty in grant writing. Ability to work independently to achieve specific goals and targets within tight deadlines with a diverse faculty and researchers. Ability to work with diverse faculty and student body.
