The primary responsibility of the Proposal Writer Intern will be to work with the Proposal Manager, Business Development and Operations Personnel to plan and deliver major Health & Human Services proposals to a wide range of Government clients at locations throughout the U.S. This position is a highly visible role that works collaboratively with senior leadership, capture personnel, and operations management to write, edit, review, and produce winning proposals. Creates compliant, compelling responses for assigned proposal sections/ topics and recommend creative ideations of associated graphics, charts, tables, appendices, and other information in support of proposal development Cross-references solicitation documents (RFPs, RFIs, etc.) to create organized writing outlines that are responsive to requirements Presents outlines in storyboarding sessions Submits complete written proposal responses within tight deadlines Incorporates feedback from reviewers to improve drafts Interviews technical experts and operational resources to gather information that supports proposal development and transforms that information into clear, concise, compelling proposal text Applies win themes and strategic messaging in proposal content Collaborates with Business Development team members to understand market positioning, competition, capabilities, client drivers, and solution components Identifies and reworks existing proposal content for use in active bids Supports the maintenance of a writing team content library Interacts with senior-level internal and external personnel Uses SharePoint collaborative platform to upload materials Serves as an editor for other writers as needed Recommends continuous improvement initiatives to refine writing processes and techniques as appropriate Collaborates with graphic artists to conceptualize visuals (diagrams, workflows, icons, etc.) to accompany writing Performs additional duties as necessary or assigned Additional Duties and Requirements: Manages, perhaps through subordinate supervisors, the coordination of the activities of a section or department with responsibility for results, including costs, methods and staffing Works on issues of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors, including an understanding of current business trends Follows processes and operational policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions Acts as advisor to subordinate(s) to meet schedules and/or resolve problems Develops and administers schedules and performance requirements Frequently interacts with subordinate employees, customers, and/or functional peer group managers, normally involving matters between functional areas, other company divisions or units, or customers and the company Recommends changes to policies and establishes procidures that affect immediate organization(s) Requirements: Actively pursuing Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Writing, Business Management, Journalism, Marketing, Communications, English, etc. with a key focus towards developing your writing skills Excellent writing and editing skills, with an eye for detail and accuracy Strong verbal communication skills Experience working both collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment Ability to multitask effectively while performing job duties, including ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines Proficient computer and software skills, including Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat and SharePoint Job Summary Education and Experience Requirements Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Minimum Requirements: - High School diploma or equivalent with 0- 2 years of experience. - May have additional training or education in area of specialization. - Works on assignments that are routine in nature, with responsibilities easily learned on the job. - Acquires job skills and learns applicable policies and procedures to complete routine tasks. - Able to read, understand & perform assignments within prescribed guidelines. - Communicates routine information in a clear and accurate way with internal & external contacts.
