Job Description: The Accounting Supervisor - Retail role at OSJL is responsible for reviewing and preparing financial results and reporting associated with the Company's retail operations. This role also supports OSJL's Finance department in the preparation of the Company's combined financial statements. Key Responsibilities: Prepare journal entries and reconciliations pertaining to the retail segment of the business, including, but not limited to, the recording of consolidating and eliminating entries. Identify opportunities for the automation of journal entries and reconciliations. Assist with month-end close processes and coordinate monthly and quarterly accounting closing cycles. Monitor revenue and expense line items and analyze variances. Assist in preparation of the Company's combined financial statements and all required disclosures in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. Facilitate a smooth external audit by preparing and organizing supporting schedules. Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger by monitoring system integrations and subledger activity for completeness. Maintain awareness of proper internal controls and execute corrective actions regarding deficiencies. Collaborate with the Financial Planning & Analysis team to provide financial data and analysis for decision making. Review operations for cost-savings opportunities and work cross-functionally to incorporate these initiatives. Identify key data sources and utilize data-driven insights to improve business decisions. Assist in special projects and produce various ad-hoc reporting for department leaders and executive leadership. Update job knowledge by reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting is required. 5 or more years of progressive professional experience is required. Proficient knowledge of US GAAP, FASB ASC. Exceptional analytical, quantitative, and statistical skills. Experience preparing consolidated financial statements. Certified Public Accountant candidate or public accounting experience is preferred. Retail industry experience is preferred. Must be detail-oriented and able to balance multiple responsibilities, tasks and meet deadlines. Solid computer skills with proficiency in MS Excel required. Experience working with a large ERP/Financial Management System is desirable. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to act and operate independently with minimal direction to accomplish objectives. Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of associates, management, and outside parties to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving, and deliver results. Strong financial modeling skills, along with understanding of financial reporting and cash flow information. Work Environment: Works primarily in a climate controlled environment with minimal safety and health hazard potential. Works in an office environment remaining stationary at a desk, table, or computer workstation for extended periods of time. Frequently uses near vision for reading and computer tasks.
