The Vice President of Finance oversees all financial matters for the organization, from ensuring accounting processes are finished on time to analyzing market trends. The Vice President of Finance reports directly to the President. The Vice President of Finance is responsible for processing an organization's financial activities to maximize profits and plan for growth. The role includes analyzing data and advising top executives on how to use that information to make strategic decisions about the organization's future. With a hands-on approach to all aspects of an organization's finances, the Vice President of Finance must ensure a company complies with tax laws and regulations specific to that industry. Responsibilities •Developing internal control guidelines, policies, and procedures for budget accounting, cash and credit management, administration, and other activities. •Financial Reporting. The VP of Finance ensures that all financial reporting is timely, precise, and compliant with regulatory requirements and standards. •Ensuring compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements and professional standards. •Serve as a financial advisor to the President and executive team for strategic planning purposes. •Oversee all sides of accounting operations, including payables, receivables, payroll, and tax preparation. •Develop appropriate tracking methods for revenue and expenses. •Oversee development, oversight, and management of the organization's investment plan. •Lead and manage the budgeting process. •Gather financial data for analysis and forecasting with respect to profits, trends, costs, and compliance. •Coordinate the preparation of annual, quarterly, and monthly reports. •Manage insurance coverage for the organization, including compliance. •Process the financial activities of an organization to maximize a company's profits and plan for its growth. •Ensure a company complies with tax laws and regulations specific to that industry. Day-to-Day Duties •Own all aspects of Finance and Accounting operations, including: o Regular financial reporting (e.g. preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements), forecasts, planning, budgeting, financial analysis, cash management, and procurement. o Timely and accurate reporting of financial information to internal parties, government regulators, and outside agencies. •Audit and improve productivity and effectiveness of current cross-team processes. •Partner with the CEO to support corporate finance activities, including venture capital fundraising. •Manage and supervise all AR/AP cycles with external partners and customers - including the accounting and billing systems and controls. •Keep careful tabs on transactions, investments, and business deals that affect the bottom line. •Conduct regular audits of expenditures, assets, and liabilities. Managing insurance coverage for the organization, including compliance. •Monitor transactions. •Prepare financial reports. Management retains the discretion to add or change the duties at any time. Requirements Education, Experience and Skills Required Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance, or related field. Certifications such as CPA, CFA, CMA are preferred. Proven work experience in accounting or a related field. Understanding of applicable laws and regulations. Understanding of economic principles, financial markets, and banking. Understanding of financial data analysis and reporting. Ability to deliver quality work on tight deadlines, with strong organization and priority setting skills. Proven experience in financial project management. Advanced computer skills, specifically in Excel. Must be able to communicate financial information into sound business language so people of all levels can understand. Knowledge of federal regulation on taxes and reporting.
