Role Overview: Health Safety Environmental (HSE) Manager As an HSE Manager at UIG, you will play a crucial role in ensuring a safe and healthy work environment across all project sites. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring HSE policies and procedures, conducting regular inspections, and providing training to employees and subcontractors. Your leadership in health, safety, and environmental practices will contribute to the overall success and sustainability of our projects. Typical Duties include but are not limited to: Regularly inspect company project sites to identify and assess potential safety, health, and environmental risks. Create, implement, and maintain HSE policies and procedures, ensuring they are comprehensive and up-to-date. Establish a routine inspection schedule to monitor compliance. Design and enforce HSE procedures specific to construction operations, ensuring that all activities are conducted safely and in accordance with regulations. Prepare and facilitate training programs on emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics to enhance the safety knowledge of all employees and subcontractors. Monitor ongoing compliance with safety procedures, promptly addressing any deficiencies and implementing corrective actions. Draft detailed inspection reports using tools like iAuditor, documenting inspection findings, outcomes, and necessary corrective measures. Ensure that all safety data sheets are electronically maintained and readily accessible for all relevant personnel. Keep accurate records of employee exposure to hazardous waste and pollutants as required by law. Provide coaching and mentorship to employees and subcontractors on company and site-specific safety protocols, fostering a culture of safety. Stay informed on the latest HSE trends and best practices, seeking continuous professional development to enhance the HSE program. Perform other related duties as assigned to support the overall safety and health of the organization. Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, or a related field is required; a Master's degree is preferred. A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a related HSE role, preferably within the construction or infrastructure sectors. Extensive understanding of HSE regulations, policies, and industry protocols, with the ability to apply this knowledge practically on job sites. Strong analytical abilities with a proactive approach to identifying risks and solving complex safety-related issues. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of clearly articulating safety policies and procedures to diverse audiences. Exceptional organizational abilities with a keen attention to detail, ensuring that all documentation, reporting, and records management tasks are performed efficiently. Proficient in the use of technology and equipment related to HSE inspections, as well as software tools such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and specialized safety software. In-depth knowledge of databases, safety trends, and best practices specific to heavy civil and infrastructure construction. Physical Requirements: Physically able to conduct field inspections and carry related construction materials and equipment used for jobsite surveys and inspections Periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer - administrative duties Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at a time.
