We are hiring an Accounting Director to help us build the future of veterinary care. This role will be a strategic leader within Modern Animal partnering closely with our Growth and Real Estate and Development teams to improve and scale our financial reporting for clinic-based capital expenditures, providing financial forecasts for new locations, and reviewing new lease contracts for commercial risks and compliance with ASC 842. This role will also be a key leader in the Finance organization partnering closely with all Finance departments to consult on technical accounting matters and to lead an efficient month end close and financial reporting cycle. We are looking for a highly motivated self-starter with deep knowledge of technical accounting and the procure-to-pay cycle that is willing to roll up their sleeves to build our accounting operations and to drive continuous improvements in a high-growth environment. The right candidate will have excellent project management and communication skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and to thrive in a cross-functional environment. In this role, we are looking for a leader who is passionate about pets and the people who love them, and is excited to set the foundation to bring our mission to life as we grow. What the job entails: Evaluate and document complex technical accounting matters, including ASC 360, ASC 842, and ASC 718. Motivate a team of onshore and offshore accountants to design accurate and efficient accounting operations by training staff on accounting best practices and reviewing journal entries, accounts reconciliations, and fluctuation analyses. Design and implement financial systems, including a purchasing and accounts payable system, that can scale with a fast growing organization. Develop a process for tagging and tracking fixed assets and train clinic-based and support team employees on the financial operations necessary to achieve accurate financial reporting for the Company's most material assets. Manage accounts payable and accounting for the procure-to-pay cycle Oversee financial reporting, including the creation and distribution of management and investor reporting. Manage financial statement audits to ensure timely completion Manage the Company's compliance with business property tax regulations Communicate regularly with clinical and office staff by being the main point of contact for questions, training, and support to ensure employees have the information they need. Consult cross-functional finance teams on technical accounting matters and assist with documentation of the Company's accounting policy memos. The pay range for this position is $166,000 - $232,000 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on bonus and equity grant units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. This information is provided per the California Pay Transparency Act. Base pay information is based on geographic location.
