Are you committed to industrial hygiene safety in the workplace? We are seeking a dedicated and experienced industrial hygienist to lead our Region 3 Industrial Hygiene Consultation team! This role is vital in overseeing our industrial hygiene staff responsible for voluntary workplace compliance and education of applicable laws/regulations. This position coordinates and implements voluntary workplace safety and injury prevention with employers, associations, and employee groups. This position can be offered with a flexible schedule (4/10's, 9/80's, 5/8's etc.) once fully trained and approved by management. For this position, telework is permitted full time with the requirement to report to the office an average of once per week. In addition, this position will require occasional travel throughout the region to accompany staff and conduct independent field consultations. The assigned duty station for this position is Tacoma, WA. **In addition to the base salary above** Industrial Hygienists and Safety & Health Professionals will be compensated basic salary plus 10% for each hour they are required to use personal protective equipment (excluding hard hats, boots, hearing and eye protection) to enter a hazardous worksite to consult, inspect or investigate where serious hazards are present. Duties Some of what you'll do: Supervise and coordinate the daily operational activities of Regional DOSH OSHPRO 3 Industrial Hygiene Specialists and, in some regions, Risk Management Specialists. Conduct workplace consultations. Regional and statewide coordination of consultation program activities. Establish and maintain working relationships with employers, employees, state and local agencies, labor groups, and law enforcement to ensure communication and information flow with the regulated community. Analyze, coordinate, market, assign, and evaluate the delivery of workplace safety and health services. Review and approve all Industrial Hygiene consultation reports prior to issue. Provide coaching, mentoring, and training for direct reports. Conduct accompanied visits and spot check to evaluate staff performance and program effectiveness. Insure provision of technical assistance to Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) and other cooperative programs. Approve/disapprove leave and work schedule change requests. Assign work, confirm deadlines, monitor, evaluate, and make changes necessary to workload progress. Review and approve position and personnel transactions. Interpret laws, standards, and policies related to DOSH for employers, employees, and internal staff. And much more! Qualifications REQUIRED: Must possess a valid and unrestricted driver license. Plus one of the following: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited university involving major study in occupational safety and health, industrial hygiene, or closely related field AND three years as a DOSH OSHPRO Industrial Hygiene Specialist, one of which must be at the 3 level. OR A Bachelor's degree from an accredited university involving major study in occupational safety and health, industrial hygiene, or closely related field AND five years of paid occupational/industrial safety related professional experience. OR A Master's Degree from an accredited university in industrial hygiene or similar field AND three years of paid professional experience as an industrial hygienist. OR A Master's Degree from an accredited university in industrial hygiene or similar field AND five years of full-time journey level paid professional experience as an industrial hygienist in a government, military or public health work environment. DESIRED: Professional safety certification, such as Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH). Supervisory or lead experience in a regulatory compliance environment is highly desirable. Three or more years of industrial hygiene experience must include broad experience in the anticipation, recognition, evaluation and management of occupational health hazards (chemical, physical & biological).
