Job Responsibilities and Requirements The Software Engineer Lead, a pivotal role within the Core Technology and DevOps team, spearheads a group dedicated to crafting top-tier solutions for enterprise services, middleware, and platforms. This role is tailor-made for a visionary who excels in forging robust alliances throughout the organization, collaborating with both service users and fellow teams to drive successful results. As the Lead Senior Software Engineer, you will be instrumental in guiding the development and support of features on the EIS product platform, coordinating with in-house and external partners to deliver a dependable and effective product that is foundational to the company's success. Business and IT Vision Collaborate with product and technology teams to craft IT architecture that enables RSL's business and technology vision. Assist the program management team with accurate estimations and timely delivery of key organizational projects. Standards and Governance Contribute to the definition of standards, guidance, and points-of-view that enable engineers to thrive and cross-enterprise thinking to become the norm. Develop new and revise existing governance processes to ensure alignment of a diverse set of technology projects with the enterprise target state vision. Work in agile development environment with a highly motivated team. Actively work alongside Product and Program Management partners to manage and prioritize engineering initiatives, infrastructure changes, maintenance, and new feature requests. Technical Leadership Provide hands-on leadership for a development team, building and enhancing our applications in our service-oriented, highly scalable environment. Positively influence the design of Reliance Matrix technical capabilities through common architecture patterns, frameworks, languages, and industry trends. Address operational and non-functional concerns (e.g. horizontal & vertical scalability, performance, maintainability, load distribution, resilience, recovery, security and privacy) while undertaking technical designs. Provide guidance and handholding support to the development team in a wide range of tooling and technologies such as Java, PostgresSQL, Kraken Rules Engine, OpenL Rules Engine, Maven, Jenkins, EKS, Kafka, SQS, SMS, CloudWatch, ELK Stack, Solr, Jira, Azure DevOps, GitHub, Docker, Jolt Transformations, Veracode and others. Enable visibility and transparency of technical and solution designs in-conjunction with our enterprise architecture team. Participate in feature reviews with product owners, business analysts, designers, and software engineers. Review and Mentoring Review, advise, and provide feedback on architectures produced within and outside the team. Mentor and grow other technologists within the team with appropriate skills and capabilities leveraging AWS cloud technologies. Recruit and assist in the hiring process to target exceptional talent and facilitate onboarding of new team members. Evaluate team members performance including participation in performance reviews. Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Related Experience Master's or Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field of study. 5 or more years of experience in software solutions delivery leveraging distributed teams (onshore & offshore). Solution-oriented mindset. Demonstrates ability to adopt solution-oriented approaches to systematically analyze and deliver end-to-end solutions around complex systems integration, legacy modernization, or other transformational programs. Software engineering foundation. Demonstrates strong foundation in Software Engineering, Object Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD), Cloud Architecture (AWS/Azure/Google), Microservices, Event sourcing, Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) concepts and related design patterns. Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and DevOps. Demonstrates strong foundation in Agile and/or Iterative software development. Hands-on experience with latest release management/DevOps concepts like CI/CD, Containerization and Container Orchestration. Excellent communication and persuasion skills. Has strong facilitation and communication skills (verbal and written) to quickly command an audience at all levels, navigate organizational structures, and influence successful outcomes. Creative problem-solving skills. Demonstrates hands-on creativity and critical thinking necessary to develop innovative ideas and find fresh approaches for problem solving. Core technical skills. Has expertise in any of the core distributed platforms such as Java J2EE, .Net, or other open systems with keen interest to learn and adopt emerging trends like Microservices/API, AI/ML, Robotic Process Automation (RPA), Mobility, Big Data, OmniChannel etc. Experience working within a customizable product suite is a plus. Experience working withing the financial insurance industry is a plus. Ability to Travel: Up to 10% The expected hiring range for this position is $107,320.00 - $143,270.00 annually for work performed in the primary location (Philadelphia, PA). This expected hiring range covers only base pay and excludes any other compensation components such as commissions or incentive awards. The successful candidate's starting base pay will be based on several factors including work location, job-related skills, experience, qualifications, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. Work location may be flexible if approved by the Company.
