About the Role: We are seeking a proactive and strategic Director of Finance to elevate the SCGA's financial performance. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in overseeing key accounting functions, including managing budgeting, forecasting, general ledger operations, and financial reporting. In this role, they will be responsible for ensuring the organization's financial health through accurate reporting, strategic analysis, and full compliance with GAAP, while collaborating with auditors and leading tax-related processes. What You'll Do: Accounting Operations: Oversee the accurate and timely processing of all financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and general ledger postings. Prepares reports, schedules and information necessary to manage daily accounting operations. Prepare and post accurate journal entries for multiple entities, ensuring timely and accurate recording of all financial transactions. Maintain timely and accurate posting of all financial transactions to the general ledger. Ensure the accurate and timely processing of all financial transactions, including reconciliations and month-end/year-end closing procedures. Financial Management: Oversee accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting for the SCGA, SCGA Foundation, and other entities as agreed upon by the SCGA Executive Director. Analyze variances between actual results and budget, providing explanations and recommendations. Perform monthly reconciliations of the general ledger accounts to ensure accurate financial reporting. Monitor cash flow, financial performance, and key financial metrics to provide insights and recommendations. Manage relationships with banks, investment providers, and other financial stakeholders including maintenance of investment records. Support strategic planning processes by providing financial analysis and insights. Audit and Compliance: Oversee the preparation and submission of tax filings, regulatory reports, and compliance with other statutory obligations. Coordinate with external auditors, providing necessary documentation and preparing schedules for the annual audit of the SCGA, SCGA Foundation, and other entities as agreed upon by the SCGA Executive Director. Maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Prepare and manage all necessary insurance applications for company policies, while maintaining individual group insurance files and addressing related inquiries or issues. Collaborate with the accounting firm, preparing schedules to support annual tax return filings. Act as liaison for the SCGA Audit & Finance Committee, the SCGA Foundation Finance Committee, and the SCGA Foundation Audit Committee. Financial Strategy and Analysis: Provide financial and strategic guidance to support the SCGA's objectives. Conduct financial analysis to support business decisions, including cost-benefit analysis, and risk assessments. Assist with special projects and perform additional duties as assigned. What You'll Need: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred. Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive accounting experience, with a strong emphasis on full-charge bookkeeping and general ledger management. Proficient in Sage 100 accounting software. Solid understanding of financial reporting, month-end and year-end close processes, and GAAP compliance. Demonstrated expertise in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning. Proven leadership skills with strong communication and interpersonal abilities, and a track record of effective collaboration across departments. Ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure, consistently meeting tight deadlines and maintaining high accounting standards. Strong analytical capabilities, with the ability to clearly communicate complex financial data to various stakeholders. Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and a proactive problem-solving approach. Able to quickly identify and resolve issues efficiently, ensuring smooth financial operations.
