For more details see Job Description Reporting directly to the Division Controller, the US Controller is responsible for managing the local finance team and helping establish and maintain adequate internal control systems to ensure conformance with prescribed policies and procedures for both ITW and statutory requirements. Statutory requirements include financial, tax, and legal matters for the legal entity. This position is responsible for helping develop management reporting systems which assure timely and accurate reporting of all items that have an impact on the financial performance of the unit and its departments. These reports must be made available to all relevant levels of management for planning and controlling daily activities. This position is responsible for the monthly payroll of the company, including the confidentiality and legal requirements associated with payroll. Directs preparation of budgets, reviews budget proposals, and prepares necessary supporting documentation and justification for the Annual Plan and Long-Range Plan. Ensures continuous search for simplification by maintaining knowledge of and the use of the ITW Toolbox tools. Financial Planning & Reporting Coordinate and direct the financial planning, budgeting and reporting for the organization. Prepare or direct preparation of financial statements, business reports, annual budgets and/or reports required by corporate and/or regulatory agencies. Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close. Effectively communicate and coordinate the exchange of financial information to key stakeholders. Advise management team on short-term and long-term financial objectives, policies and actions. Support Division Controller and leadership team to achieve division goals and objectives. Financial Records & Internal Controls Guides and directs the activities of the Accounting Department personnel in all functions including cash receipts and disbursements; credit and collection processes. Manages Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable. Manage compliance to accounting policies and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. Responsible for tax compliance. Performs reconciliations on all Balance Sheet accounts. Main contact for both internal and statutory audits. Understand and apply ITW financial policies consistently and effectively. Ensure that transactions are recorded in an accurate, efficient and timely manner. Document and monitor internal controls. Ensure the correctness of the physical inventory and its valuation, effectiveness of inventory control systems and adequacy of physical inventory procedures. Establish procedures which test the accuracy and integrity of all mechanized data bases. Work with all relevant departments to control the Inventory related metrics. Maintains records of all capital projects; actively involved in capital project planning, analysis, approval and audits. Responsible for maintaining all assets in FAS and job cost systems. Coordinate internal and external audits as well as other corporate requests. Financial Analysis / Continuous Improvement Analyze the financial details of past, present and expected operations in order to identify development opportunities and areas where improvement is needed. Perform analytical reviews of data and explain variances against plan, outlook and prior year. Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy. Participates with sales/engineers on costing models to be used for customer quotations, working with Operations Director on contract reviews and profitability to ensure division goals are met. Apply the ITW Principles (80/20, Product Line Simplification, Segmentation, In-lining, and Market Rate of Demand) to eliminate complexity and improve profitability of the company. Participate in teams and play a lead role in the collection and analysis of data for these projects. Team Management & Development Manage a team of 5 with 2 direct reports. Identify, manage and develop talent to maximize individual, team and organizational effectiveness. Fosters a culture of engagement and accountability. Coach through feedback, development planning and performance management. Provide training to new and existing staff and support them in their career goals. Use change management skills to effectively to plan, implement and evaluate change. Qualifications Education: BS/BA degree in accounting or related field required Experience/Skills: At least five (5) years' experience; ideally gained through increasingly responsible management positions in the Finance/Accounting area. Preferably within a Manufacturing or Public Accounting organization. People leadership experience managing direct and/or indirect staff. Strong IT knowledge with excellent computer skills (Microsoft and General Ledger applications). Working knowledge of manual and automated accounting systems. Working knowledge and experience in process simplification and/or value analysis. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
