Position Summary: AmeriVet Veterinary Partners is currently looking for Regional Medical Directors to support our West Coast Market. The Veterinary Regional Medical Director (RMD) is responsible for aligning AmeriVet's strategic plan and objectives with veterinary practice excellence within the assigned region. The RMD oversees the training, organization, supervision, evaluation, and accountability of Veterinarians (DVMs) across multiple clinics. This role will be approximately 75% travel as the duties would be supporting the hospitals in the specific region. Reporting: Reporting directly to the Chief Veterinary Officer, with a dotted line to the Regional Vice President for Operations, the RMD works collaboratively with various stakeholders to drive superior outcomes in terms of quality of care, client and DVM experience, and financial success. The RMD also supervises the Market/Hospital Medical Directors for the assigned region. Responsibilities & Objectives: 1. Shared Medical Goals for Improved Clinical Outcomes: - Establish and promote common medical goals across clinics/hospitals, ensuring alignment with AmeriVet's strategic plan and objectives. - Monitor and facilitate the sharing of best practices, research, and clinical data to continuously improve patient outcomes and veterinary services. 2. Productivity Initiatives: - Design and execute strategies to enhance DVM productivity, with focus on maximizing operational efficiency without compromising quality patient care. 3. Visit Volume: - Collaborate with Operations and Marketing teams to implement innovative programs to and grow patient visit numbers. 4. Quality of Care: - Continued improvement of the quality of veterinary care provided to patients across all clinics/hospitals ensuring that patient welfare is at the forefront of all initiatives. Our minimal goal is adherence to industry standards. 5. Procurement: - Assist with procurement processes, balancing operational efficiency and cost reduction with the availability of high-quality medicines. 6. Labor Model: - Collaborate with the Operations Team to develop a labor model that supports quality patient care, medical outcomes, team optimization, customer experience, and scalability to flex with changes in demand, staff vacancies, etc. 7. Stakeholder Engagement: - Collaborates with the veterinary professionals within the clinics to ensure support and personal commitment to organizational initiatives. - Establish a culture of mutual respect and shared purpose, fostering engagement and commitment among veterinarians and support staff. - Partners with the People & Culture to provide guidance and support for hiring, onboarding, mentoring, professional growth, teamwork, and open dialogue. - Identify skill gaps / areas for training of veterinary professionals and coordinate clinical training goals with the Learning & Development Team. - Ensure accountability for conduct/ethics, and address licensure violations. 8. Financial Management and Reporting: - Oversee the financial aspects of medical operations, ensuring profitability while maintaining the highest standards of veterinary care. - Support Operations in maintaining financial performance by enforcing adherence to fee schedules, prepared treatment plans, and hospital charges. - Assist in routine audits/reviews of DVM production and collaborate on monthly financial reviews. 9. Compliance and Ethics: - Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations governing veterinary medicine and animal care across the region. - Promotes and upholds veterinary ethical standards and maintains the integrity and reputation of the organization. This includes maintaining accurate medical records, upholding strict pharmaceutical protocols, and adhering to environmental and safety regulations. - Collaborate with the Chief Legal Officer to mitigate legal and ethical challenges related to clinical practice. Qualifications, Education, and Experience: 1. Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) degree required. 2. Minimum 7 years of experience as a practicing Veterinarian. 3. Preferred 3+ years of experience directing a veterinary team. 4. Previous experience with multisite clinic responsibility, preferably with a veterinarian practice consolidator. 5. Previous experience with presenting continuing education, professional organization leadership, boards, and other professional leadership roles preferred. AmeriVet Leadership Competencies: 1. Compensation for this role is competitive and will be determined based on the candidate's experience and qualifications, with a base range typically starting around $180,000.
