Job Details Job Location Upper School - San Jose, CA Position Type Staff Description The Harker School seeks an experienced development professional to join the role of Director of Alumni Relations to join our Development Office. Reporting to the Director of Advancement, the Director of Alumni Relations will oversee all aspects of Harker's alumni program and serve as the school's primary liaison to the alumni community. This position is a full-time, benefited, year-round position. Expected salary range is $90,000 to $115,000. Position Summary The Harker School seeks an experienced development professional to join the Director of Alumni Relations role in an eight-member Development Office. Reporting to the Director of Advancement, the Director of Alumni Relations will oversee all aspects of Harker's alum program and serve as the school's primary liaison to the alumni community. Qualifications Qualifications The preferred candidate will have a minimum of 4 years of development experience, preferably in an independent school environment. Bachelor's degree required Excellent organizational and communication skills Excellent interpersonal skills to be able to develop connections with alumni Excellent computer skills with proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required. Experience with customer relationship management software (such as The Raiser's Edge, Sales Force, SAP, etc.) is preferred. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Partner with the Director of Annual Giving for the Alumni Annual Fund, including several direct mail/email solicitations and phonations per year Recruit and coach Class Representatives in the successful engagement and solicitation of their Harker peers Establish and develop an Alumni Board to strengthen the alum experience at Harker Plan and execute 4 Alumni Board meetings per year Coordinate sub-committee work as needed Recruit and coach committee member Manage the selection process and awarding of the Distinguished Alumni Award. Work with the Assistant Director of Alumni Relations to conceive, plan, and execute impactful alumni events, including annual reunions, local engagement events, and regional receptions. Maintain the alumni database in Raiser's Edge, including regular contact information updates, and generate data-driven insights on how to better engage with alumni Work with Advancement team colleagues to optimize and order alumni swag and merchandise. Facilitate and support mentorship and internship connections between current students and alums. Partner with The Office of Communications on all alumni-related communications, including invitations to events, alumni features/profiles, class notes, and social media platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and Slack) Support team-wide projects, events, and meetings such as the Alumni Day of Giving, phonathons, Harker Day, campaign events, etc. Enthusiastically participate in the life of the school. Other Duties and Responsibilities As a member of the Advancement Team, assist and support fellow Advancement Team members, as needed, in their preparation for and execution of school events. Provide own transportation to offsite functions and events A flexible, collegial team player excited to work in a collaborative and dynamic development environment Working Conditions Lift boxes up to 30 lbs.
