Position Type: Recreation Facilities/Building Supervisor (Community Center) Date Posted: 10/2/2023 Location: Community Center Job Summary The Community Center Building Attendant is responsible for keeping the building and its participants safe, monitoring the facility, answering phones, greeting patrons, and other small administrative tasks as assigned. This is a part-time position, hours vary weekdays 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and weekends 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Qualifications Must be 18 years of age. Must have a High School diploma or GED equivalent. Must be enthusiastic, energetic, organized and personable. Must be able to communicate effectively with staff and participants. Must be able to work well under pressure of confrontation and resolve conflicts professionally. Must demonstrate a positive attitude about the Streamwood Park District. Must have a valid Driver's License. Must be CPR and AED certified upon hiring. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Employee will perform all job tasks within the rules and guidelines of the Streamwood Park District's safety program. Employee will be on time for all scheduled work hours. Employee will walk the halls. Employee will supervise the open gym activity. Employee will maintain open gym sign in sheets. Employee will enforce all open gym rules and regulations. Employee will monitor the hallways and locker rooms. Employee will pick up the keys to open gym at the front desk, and return them to the desk when finished. Employee will pick up two-way radio at the fitness desk to maintain communication for safety purposes. Employee will return two-way radio to the fitness desk. Employee will check and replace batteries as needed in the two-way radio. Employee will attend all scheduled staff meetings. Employee is responsible to find a sub for their scheduled shift if they are unable to work the time scheduled. Employee will fill in sub sheet whenever they have someone work their shift. Employee will wear proper uniform at all times. Employee will complete accident/incident forms as the need may arise and forward it to the Recreation Manager. Employee will work other duties as assigned. Employee is required, if they are present and working during a scheduled program in the gym, to give any assistance required by the supervisor of that program. - Programs always have precedence over open gym times. Employee is to immediately report a patron who is caught misusing, damaging, or vandalizing Streamwood Park District property. The patron(s) is to be apprehended and taken to the supervisor on duty. In cases where they cannot be taken to a supervisor, their name, address, phone number, age and a physical description including clothes they were wearing should be written down and given to the supervisor. It is understood that all of the above information may not be easily attainable, so get as much as you can from the patron in question or people who might know him/her. Should a situation arise of which you are unsure, use your best judgment if the Recreation Manager is not immediately available. Remember you are in charge. Do not hesitate to call the front desk with the radio or run up to the front desk if you need help, or even call the police if absolutely necessary. Secondary Duties & Responsibilities Employee should create enthusiasm and interest and be positive and supportive of the Streamwood Park District. Employee will maintain an appropriate customer service attitude. Employee will adhere to Streamwood Park District policies and procedures as set forth in the Part-Time and Seasonal Personnel Policies Manual. Employee must be able to interact with patrons occasionally and in stressful situations. Employee must be able to communicate with co-workers and other park district staff in various facilities. Employee must be able to work independently from the remainder of the staff. Cognitive Considerations Employee must be able to follow directions and communicate in English both verbally and in writing. Employee must be able to make decisions objectively based on customer service and fiscal constraint. Employee must be able to troubleshoot issues and problems associated with facility maintenance and repair. Employee is responsible for keeping organized records and reports. Psychological Considerations Employee must be able to work independently in day-to-day operations with general direction of the Recreation Manager. Employee must have the ability to delegate work, where appropriate, in order to accomplish work most effectively. Employee must demonstrate leadership qualities to perform required work. Employee must be able to work in a team atmosphere, while promoting the Park District's mission statement, vision and core values. Employee must have the ability to maintain self-control and composure in difficult situations. Employee must have the ability to recognize priorities and meet deadlines. Employee must have the ability to receive constructive criticism and/or supervision. Employee must have the ability to be flexible and adaptable to new situations. Employee must possess enthusiasm and drive with a desire to accomplish goals and objectives. Environmental & Physical Demands Employee must have the physical agility to maintain mobility from site to site, and be able to perform heavy manual tasks. Employee may perform duties which include, but are not limited to prolonged lifting, stooping, bending, twisting, and climbing for extended periods of time.
