Responsibilities The Network Engineer will provide support to the customer by planning implementation of operational network services/systems, to include hardware and virtual environments. You will work as part of a team with other contractors, government civilians, and military personnel in an agile environment. Responsibilities The Network Engineer duties may include: Document how to efficiently transport structured and unstructured logistics sustainment data (different formats/structure/file types) and develop an approach to enable DoD organizations to upload, search, and access relevant supply chain and maintenance data for future data mining actions (data manipulations, analytics, etc.). Determine and document data sharing pathways and bilateral agreements. Providing technical support and solutioning to government data requirements out of prime vendor systems. Planning and designing implementation of an operational network and associated equipment including hubs, routers, switches, bridges, servers, transmission media, and related hardware. Document system requirements encompassing network protocols such as TCP/IP, Dynamic Host Configuration, Domain Name System (DNS), and directory services. Document requirements for analyzing network traffic capacity and performance characteristics. Document requirements in implementing and testing network infrastructure contingency and recovery plans. Document establishing a very comprehensive routing schema. Developing documentation in implementing, maintaining, and improving established network security practices. Document a plan for configuring and optimizing network hubs, routers, and switches (e.g., higher-level protocols, tunneling). Interact professionally with clients/internal teams; gather requirements and document the work in a ticketing system, designing and implementing new feature additions and improvements. Utilize industry standard tools for project management, product requirements, and user documentation. Work directly with the customer to gather requirements and product feedback for future iterations. Support capabilities briefings for military personnel. Strong ability to analyze business requirements and create solutions. Ability to troubleshoot problems and provide timely resolutions. Clearly communicate with product owners to understand business concerns and demonstrate proposed solutions for acceptance. High energy, enthusiasm, tact, ability to effectively interact with senior executives from Government and industry. Ability to create and foster a cooperative work environment. Self-directed, detail oriented in completing assigned tasks, able to adapt to changing work efforts and manage impact of shifting priorities. Availability for occasional travel. Core KSATs for DoD Cyber Workforce (DCWF): Knowledge of computer networking concepts and protocols, and network security methodologies. Knowledge of risk management processes (e.g., methods for assessing and mitigating risk). Knowledge of national and international laws, regulations, policies, and ethics as they relate to cybersecurity. Knowledge of cybersecurity principles. Knowledge of cyber threats and vulnerabilities. Knowledge of specific operational impacts of cybersecurity lapses. Knowledge of cloud computing service models Software as a Service (SaaS), Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), and Platform as a Service (PaaS). Knowledge of cloud computing deployment models in private, public, and hybrid environment and the difference between on-premises and off-premises environments. Qualifications Active Secret clearance required. DOD Cyber Workforce (DCWF) 8140 (441) Network Operations Specialist role: A BS degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems, or Computer Science, from an ABET accredited or CAE designated institution fulfills the educational requirement for this WRC (conferred within 5 years or able to prove continuous relevant work experience) -OR- Personnel Certifications: CEH or CFR or Cloud+ or GICSP or SSCP or Security+ or GSEC. If none, must be willing to obtain in first 30-days. 5+ years of network administration experience. 5+ years of experience with DoD systems, preferably with Dept. of Navy, Dept. of Air Force, or DLA systems. Experience in communication methods, principles, and concepts (e.g., crypto, dual hubs, time multiplexers) that support the network infrastructure. Experience operating network equipment including hubs, routers, switches, bridges, servers, transmission media, and related hardware. Experience in DoD LAN/WAN pathways. Experience in local area and wide area networking principles and concepts including bandwidth management. Experience in network protocols such as TCP/IP, Dynamic Host Configuration, Domain Name System (DNS), and directory services. Experience in server administration and systems engineering theories, concepts, and methods. Experience in Virtual Private Network (VPN) security. Experience in key telecommunications concepts (e.g., Routing Algorithms, Fiber Optics Systems Link Budgeting, Add/Drop Multiplexers). Experience in common network tools (e.g., ping, traceroute, nslookup). Experience in executing OS command line (e.g., ipconfig, netstat, dir, nbtstat). Experience in testing and maintaining network infrastructure including software and hardware devices. Demonstrated ability to use MS Office Suite to include Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Superior communication skills, both oral and written.
