We are looking for a results-driven Senior Accountant-Inventory to join the Follett team. Reporting to the Follett Higher Education (FHE), Accounting Director, the Senior Accountant-Inventory responsibilities include leading the physical inventory process. Completing daily, weekly and monthly reporting that will be distributed throughout the organization. Serving as the main point of contact for stores, Loss Prevention, Operational teams, IT, and third-party vendors for Inventory related activities. The Senior Accountant will also closely collaborate with accounting/finance team members across the organization. Actively participates in continuous improvement by utilizing technology and analysis to identify areas that can be optimized within the department. Responsibilities Leads the end-to-end Physical Inventory process; coordinates schedules with store operations, engages third-party resource providers, remediates technical issues, daily/weekly reporting, results analysis/research, and works with IT to ensure required data points are updated accurately/timely. Complete monthly/yearly journals related to Markup/Markdowns, Received Not Invoices, and other inventory-related accruals. Responsible for Inventory reserves (example: LIFO, Excess, and Obsolesces) that are recorded at year-end and throughout the year. Performs reconciliations on all inventory accounts monthly in the Cadency. Assisting with year-end and seasonal audit requests. Performs daily/weekly/monthly reporting and analysis on Markups/Markdowns, Purchases, Received Not Invoices, Shrink, Inventory balances, and other Inventory related activity. Actively participates in continuous improvement, including utilization of an outsourcing service provider to assist in manual high-volume transactional activities. Represent the team for all complex system improvements and understand the implication for the daily/month-end close process. Responsible for maintenance/updates to internally developed Access databases. Requirements 5-7 years of general accounting experience: month-end close, reconciliations, variance analysis. Advanced knowledge of Excel. Experience reviewing and interpreting contracts is a plus. Experience with improving processes, identifying opportunities for automation, and having an eye for working smarter. Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of Access. Experience in the Retail Method of Accounting is a plus.
