Job Description *ONLY OPEN TO CURRENT FULL-TIME ANNUALLY PAID PARKS EMPLOYEES* The Deputy Commissioner/Chief Operating Officer (COO) oversees borough Maintenance and Operations (M&O), which is responsible for the daily operation of parks citywide, as well as the agencys Fleet, Citywide Services (CWS) (skilled trades, Capital, sustainability, energy and building systems management), Innovation and Performance Management (IPM) and Information Technology and Telecommunications (ITT) divisions. Major Responsibilities - Under general supervision, with some latitude for independent initiative and judgment, manage projects and support the COOs office to improve operations and aid in data-informed decision making. - Manage and implement year-round and seasonal initiatives, including engaging Parks staff and external partners. Keep projects on schedule. - Represent the COO and Parks in meetings with City colleagues and external partners. - Coordinate, provide analysis, and create presentations and reports as requested or needed. - Act as a liaison with M&O, Fleet, CWS, IPM, ITT and other Parks divisions, city agencies and key agency partners. - Monitor and track activities and assist with projects in support of seasonal priorities and agency initiatives. - Conduct research; prepare presentations, briefings and reports. - Provide outstanding customer service and administrative support for day-to-day operation of the COOs office; answer phones and draft correspondence as requested or needed. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or 2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or 3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
