Job Overview Shriners Children's is the premier pediatric burn, orthopaedic, spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate, and pediatric subspecialties medical center. We have an opportunity for a Marketing and Communications Specialist for our Philadelphia facility. The Marketing and Communications Specialist requires a flair for feature writing, succinct business writing ability, and exceptional proofreading skills. High-level knowledge of existing and emerging social media platforms and the ability to meet deadlines while working independently to manage multiple projects is also essential. Familiarity with content management systems, as well as basic design and video editing experience is preferred. The Marketing and Communications Specialist works closely with the Director of Marketing and Communications, and maintains a productive working relationship with the business development and donor development teams. Occasional evening and weekend work required. Must quickly integrate into organizational culture, serve on various committees and demonstrate commitment to the Shriners Children's vision of transforming children's lives through exceptional healthcare. Responsibilities Position Responsibilities: Strategic Communications Write and post content for Shriners Children's (SC) website, location microsite, intranet and social media channels. Research and write patient stories and other articles to support marketing, donor relations and business development. Create digital content and execute location- and system-wide strategy. Assist Manager / Director with internal communications Follow AP style and SC identity standards Research, write and distribute press releases and media advisories. Collaborative Communications Organize and facilitate hospital tours. Acts as media escort within facility. Manage and/or facilitate patient ambassador program Assist Manager / Director with Shriners International temple relations Work with other departments and medical staff to solicit stories. Assist with planning and implementation of facility education, informational, social and special events such as public celebrations, celebrity and VIP visits and others as requested. Ensure confidentiality and patient privacy during tours, events and media visits Present to Shriners International temples, community organizations or groups. Departmental Support Manage multiple projects Upload photos, videos and consents to Digital Assets Management system Research media outlets and maintain current media contact list, using media monitoring platform. Encourage enthusiasm, positive morale and teamwork among employees. General office duties including, but not limited to, answering phones, filing, inventory of marketing collateral, meeting minutes. Qualifications Experience: 1 or more years of marketing, communications and public relations experience required Writing and editing experience required Experience writing and editing for social media channels required Experience with Adobe PhotoShop, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign required MS Office Suite proficiency required Media monitoring platform, Hootsuite, website Content Management Systems exposure required Media relations experience required Ability to manage multiple projects required Bilingual language skills preferred Education: Bachelor's degree in Marketing/Communications, Public Relations or Journalism required
