Pathology Associate Scientist - On-site in Gaithersburg, MD Must be able to work on a W2 Position Summary: The Pathology Associate Scientist works closely with Senior Scientist and/or pathology associate to conduct scientific research as part of a team effort. Trains on new methods, technologies and processes and is expected to perform with minimal direction, once trained. Establishes working relationships and credibility with department members and others within the company. This position requires onsite presence. Major Duties and Responsibilities: -Facilitates Human Biological Samples compliance and laboratory establishment -Capable of executing histology tasks including grossing, processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining is provided with opportunities for independent design and development of assays and results with minimal guidance. -Use and application of immunohistochemistry principles, theories, concepts and techniques and helps develop new methods, technologies and processes when necessary for project advancement. -Learns to exercise judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. -Responsible for the proper and effective conduct of technically demanding immunohistochemical and tissue/cell-based experiments. -Prepares precise technical summaries, protocols and all appropriate documentation of experiments in electronic laboratory notebooks. -Helps provide solutions to a variety of problems involving basic scientific principles. -Responsible for the correct operation and utilization of lab equipment, and overall state of the shared lab space. -Establishes working relationships and credibility with department members and others within the company and may establish working relationships and credibly with individuals outside the company. -Supports other staff members as necessary to meet departmental goals. Requirements/Qualifications: Education Required: Essential : Minimum of 1 year work experience or Bachelors in scientific area Desirable : HT or HTL certification Experience Required: Essential :Proficient in use of relevant computer programs (Microsoft Office and Project, and Excel). Desirable : Biopharmaceutical industry, hospital or academic experience. Special Skills/Abilities: Essential : Computer literacy Desirable : Basic understanding of immunology/pathology Knowledge of medical terminology Job Complexity: Essential : Flexible Attention to detail Good time management - capable of working with minimal direction Level of Supervision Required: Medium level of independence
