JOB TITLE: Software Engineer Fellow, Baseball Systems DEPARTMENT: Baseball Operations: Research & Development - Baseball Systems ORGANIZATION: Chicago Cubs REPORTS TO: Director, Baseball Systems FLSA STATUS: Exempt The Cubs Baseball Systems - Software Engineer Fellowship Program is a structured 11-week opportunity (June 9, 2025 - August 22, 2025) for currently enrolled college students. This opportunity is committed to curating introductory experiences and exposure to software systems within a major league baseball operations front office. Please note this is an onsite Chicago-based opportunity with no relocation assistance provided. OUR STORY THE CHICAGO CUBS FRANCHISE is a charter member of Major League Baseball's National League. Since 1876, the team has won the National League pennant 17 times and was the first team to win back-to-back World Series titles in the 1907 and 1908 seasons. In 2016, the Chicago Cubs made history again when the team won its first World Series in 108 years, ending the longest championship drought in North American sports. Known for its ivy-covered outfield walls, hand-operated scoreboard and famous Marquee sign, iconic Wrigley Field has been the home of the Chicago Cubs since 1916, making it the second oldest ballpark in Major League Baseball. HOW YOU'LL CONTRIBUTE The Chicago Cubs Baseball Systems Department is seeking to potentially fill a Baseball Systems Software Engineer position. We are a department focused on creating innovative software tools and data solutions that directly impact all facets of baseball operations and are used by scouts, coaches, players, player development staff, and the baseball operations front office. This role will focus on the development and maintenance of those systems, including creating web interfaces and web tools for the user interface; assisting in mobile application development; and building automated ETL processes which feed it.
