Data Scientist BuckleighWilliams is partnering with a growing alternative asset manager in the search for a skilled Data Scientist. A niche energy focused asset manager, having built an AUM of $5B - with a particular focus on Oil & Gas and carbon friendly concerns. With a focus on innovation and collaboration, this role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects and develop advanced analytical capabilities. Role Overview: As a Data Scientist, you will be responsible for leveraging data and machine learning techniques to develop predictive models, optimize investment strategies, and drive data-driven decision-making processes. Collaborating closely with the investment team and the COO office, you will play a key role in building out advanced analytical capabilities and developing innovative solutions to complex investment challenges. Responsibilities: Lead the development and implementation of predictive models and machine learning algorithms to enhance investment decision-making processes. Conduct in-depth analysis of large and complex datasets to extract actionable insights and identify investment opportunities. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and deploy scalable data solutions, including battery models, geospatial models, and other proprietary tools. Drive innovation and continuous improvement in data science methodologies, tools, and technologies. Communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders in a clear and compelling manner. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or related field; advanced degree preferred. Proven experience in data science and machine learning within the financial services industry. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and/or R; experience with Java is a plus. Strong understanding of statistical analysis, predictive modeling, and machine learning techniques. Experience working with big data technologies and cloud platforms (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, AWS). Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
