The primary responsibility of this position is to manage the corporate office, payroll administration and to either manage or assist in supporting other accounting functions such as; employee benefits, accounts payable, certified payroll and/or all additional duties as needed and assigned. Payroll Staff Accountant position reports directly to TMG's Corporate Controller. Essential Functions of Staff Accountant Position Perform job responsibilities in a timely and accurate manner, communicate with management and co-workers in an effective, courteous and professional manner, abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instruction as required and treat personal information, sensitive data and other financial information on a need-to-know basis and in a strictly confidential manner. The employee performing this position is regularly required to talk and listen. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use their hands, handle and feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee will be frequently sitting and occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required in this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth vision and the ability to adjust focus. Responsibilities Payroll preparation, processing and reconciliation: Maintain accurate wage rates, payroll accrual rates and other deductions for each employee; Monitor and track hours accrued and balance for vacation, sick, and holiday leave; Collect all timesheets on a weekly basis, review for accuracy and actively follow up on any discrepancies; Identify projects requiring Davis-Bacon wage rates; ensure employees are paid accordingly; Timely process certified payrolls when required; Maintain and update employee payroll portal; Maintain new and terminated employee maintenance, new employee's portal setup; within 48 hours of receipt of new hire notification; Upload weekly and bi-weekly timesheet information into the Viewpoint payroll module; Review, generate, and process payroll on a weekly and bi-weekly basis; Process all federal and state payroll taxes to the appropriate agencies; Provide appropriate and any assigned support for accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash management; Work with insurance carriers to administer the employee benefit programs to include accurate employee deductions, bill reconciliations and payment of accurate premiums; Process 401K contributions, within 24 hours of employee withholding; Maintain long and short term disability records, process billings, and process employee obligations for any benefits reconciliations; Prepare all monthly, quarterly and annual payroll tax returns (multi-states and federal); Generate and distribute year end W-2s and 1095 tax documents; Maintain accessible payroll records for the purpose of providing an up-to-date reference and audit trail for compliance; Research and implement payroll requirements for any new states that TMG Construction may conduct business; Manage employee relations, prepare birthday/anniversary cards for the President and Executive Vice President to sign monthly. Minimum Qualifications Associates degree in business administration/management or equivalent with a minimum of 2-3 years of related experience or a Bachelor's degree in business administration/management or equivalent with a minimum of 1-2 years of experience (preferably in commercial construction); Managing Payroll Tax payments and filings Cost accounting experience Employee Benefits Management Proficient in MS Office applications, Excel, Word and Outlook; Proficient in accounting & reporting applications; experience in Viewpoint desired.
