Description Position Summary The Internal Auditor reports to the Chief Financial Officer. The Internal Auditor is responsible for assessing the overall efficiency and reliability of Lawndale Christian Health Center's financial control mechanisms. When deficiencies are identified these findings will be reported to the relevant internal stakeholders along with any recommendations for improvement. Processes that are audited remain the responsibility of the department and staff who participate in that process including any improvement efforts. The internal auditor's role is to work collaboratively with department staff but remain objective in their review of a process. Principle Duties and Responsibilities Objectively review the clinic's business processes Evaluate the efficacy of financial risk management procedures currently in place Protect against fraud and theft of the organization's assets Ensure the organization is complying with relevant laws and statutes Make recommendations on how to improve internal controls and financial governance processes Project manage the implementation of relevant process improvements including systems, procedures, and related documentation Areas of Emphasis Pharmacy 340b Program: self-audits and analysis R-1 client prescriber checks/consult note review and recovery Revenue reconciliation Purchasing Requisition approval, order, receiving, and invoice payment process monitoring Procurement monitoring including cyclical review of perpetual inventory process for inventoried items Financial analysis identifying outlier expenditures and cost containment opportunities Finance Review cash drawer and safe audits for all cash entry points Credit card transaction reconciliation review Periodic procedure verification and compliance assessment Cyclical testing of grants invoicing for completeness and timeliness Grants receivable review to ensure accurate revenue recognition and corresponding payment processing Patient Accounting Perform registration insurance audits according to the prescribed schedule (first full month, quarterly, or annually as applicable) Log audit results and record errors found in Error Log Collaborate with site managers to ensure they are aware of strengths as well as growth opportunities for registration reps on their teams Provide one on one re-training for new reps or when updated procedures are implemented as needed in collaboration with clinical operations leadership Stay current with billing procedures and requirements and act as a bridge between the two functions to ensure procedures are uniformly performed and remain up to date Required Skills or Abilities Analytical and critical thinking skills Process oriented mindset with capacity to see how processes fit into system as a whole Ability to collaborate and interact with a diverse group of health care professionals. Ability to communicate effectively across broad spectrum of audiences in a healthcare setting Ability to work independently and demonstrate leadership skills Ability to organize, direct, prioritizes, and delegate work appropriately. Ability to mine and analyze data from a variety of sources across all of LCHC's lines of businesses Ability to strongly embrace and personify the mission of the Lawndale Christian Health Center providing for the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of staff members and patients Required Knowledge and Experience (5) years relevant healthcare registration experience minimum. Bachelor's degree preferred. Requires a strong working knowledge of practice management software. Requires experience and demonstrated abilities for working in a multi-cultural setting
