Who We Are Founded in 1926, the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation is a private, not-for-profit educational, historic, and cultural institution that owns and operates one of the largest and best-known museum complexes in the world. Today, Colonial Williamsburg is the largest living history museum in the U.S. The Historic Area is the 301-acre restored colonial capital with 88 original buildings and 525 buildings reconstructed to how they appeared in the 18th century through extensive archaeological, architectural, and documentary research. The Historic Area is staffed by highly trained, historically dressed interpreters and expert tradespeople who bring the 18th century to life. The Foundation also owns and operates two world-class museums, the DeWitt Wallace Decorative Arts Museum, and the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Museum, The Bob and Marion Wilson Teacher Institute, and a renowned research library, the John D Rockefeller Jr Library. Additionally, Colonial Williamsburg is home to five world class accommodations at the Williamsburg Inn, Williamsburg Lodge Autograph Collection, the Griffin Hotel, the Williamsburg Woodlands Hotels and Suites and the unique Colonial Houses in the Historical Area. Visitors may also indulge in food and drink at our many on site restaurants and taverns that blend a historically inspired dining experience with today's evolved tastes. Each year over 5 million people visit Williamsburg and another 20 million engage with us digitally. About the Position The Learning & Development Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining all employee growth and development initiatives, ensuring continuous improvement and innovation in development programs. This individual is responsible for programs that foster employee growth, enhance skills, support career development, and ensure organizational Learning compliance. This role is essential in promoting a culture of continuous learning, and employee engagement, leveraging technology for enriched learning experiences, and ensuring that our workforce is equipped with the skills needed for current and future success. This role requires a proactive individual who can manage training delivery, assess performance, and ensure compliance with industry standards. Your role will involve close collaboration with department managers to ensure alignment with organizational goals and continuous improvement of training programs. Essential Functions: Own, and manage welcome day and the mission aligning tour, ensure to set the tone for new employees onboarding. Manage and lead employee engagement surveys, and partner with business leaders, and the HRBP team to develop impactful action plans based on the results. Ensure CW employees are thoroughly introduced to company policies, procedures, and culture. Ensure employees and managers are provided with required, compliance-based training. Collaborate with COEs (Centers of Excellence) within HR and SMEs across the organization to assess gaps in learning. Design and develop training programs and materials, including manuals, guides, videos, and interactive content. Own and update the annual training curriculum, ensuring that all employees are continuously learning and developing their skills. Further the deep sense of community that Colonial Williamsburg embraces by equipping employees with the tools to recognize and celebrate diversity and create inclusion in our team's daily work experiences. Assess the impact of training programs on employee performance and organizational goals. Implement metrics to measure the effectiveness of training and identify areas for improvement. Improve organizational performance linking strategy to structure and operational priorities building a transformational change approach and navigating complex organizational issues. Oversee the performance management process. Collaborate with leaders to review and improve the processes and tools related to goal setting, progress tracking, and evaluating individuals. Partner with and assist senior leaders and managers to understand employee needs and define, design and drive innovative people practices that improve the employee experience, advance strategic initiatives, and develop organizational capacity for growth and innovation. Develop and lead a management development program to assist managers in navigating CW's organization, financial processes, employment processes/law, and communication skills, etc.Further develop and maintain ongoing management development program to further empathic leadership, assessment of leadership styles, accountability, etc. Stay updated on best practices and innovations in training to continuously improve program offerings. Required and Preferred Education and Experience: Required: Competencies usually acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Human Resource Development, Organizational Development, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Business Administration or a closely related field and 6-8 years of related experience. Knowledgeable of adult learning techniques. Preferred: SHRM-SCP or SPHR certification Experience working in the not-for-profit industry Qualifications: Proficient with MS Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and Talent Acquisition and Learning Management systems. Ability to process and present information to diverse audiences while maintaining effective, collaborative relationships with all stakeholders, including members of the Board of Directors, outside organizations, vendors, management, and staff. Demonstrated success in team building, project planning, and project management. Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
