1. General job duties. Types of procedures required. Evaluation and treatment of the Acute inpatient, working with a diverse patient population. Treatment is performed in one of our 3 therapy departments and/ or at bedside. May co-treat with OT. Ability to demonstrate clinical reasoning, self initiation and provide assessments, clinical judgment in a fast paced environment. Ability to communicate with varied disciplines regarding patient status, needs, discharge recommendation; attend IDT rounds. Expectation is to be a team player, assisting co-workers with daily tasks, complete patient assignments, etc. Supervision of PTA, therapy aides. 2. Equipment utilized in the unit/dept. (Is there computerized charting, medication systems, etc.) Computerized documentation system is utilized. Standard therapy equipment, including but not limited to wheelchairs, assistive devices, modalities, therapeutic exercise/balance equipment, etc. Medical equipment handling - oxygen, IMED's, wound vacs, catheters, chest tubes, etc. 3. Required skills and minimum years of experience. A minimum of 1 year experience preferred. Knowledge of Acute Care in clinicals or work experience beneficial. 4. Specific licensures and certifications/registrations required. (ARRT, CRT, BLS, ACLS, etc) SD PT license required. PTA supervision noted on licensure. (We will need to provide PTA information) BLS required. 5. Shift or schedule requirements. (Will the employee ever work alone? Is call required? If so, how often? Are weekends required?) Employee may be working in a therapy gym or clinical area alone but will never be the only therapist on staff for the day. Typically 10-12 PT's working Mon-Fri; 4-5 on the weekend. On call not required. Potential of a weekend every 3-4 weeks once oriented. 6. Floating to over units/departments. (If so, to which units/departments?) No expectation to float to another dept. 7. Bed size/number of rooms for this unit/dept. 500+ bed hospital. Average of 12-14 PT patient evals/treatments a day. 8. Nurse to patient ratio of this unit. (nursing only) 9. Tell us about the unit/department specific training and orientation program. Will be assigned a main mentor for orientation consistency. Mentor will orient/accompany traveler to the various gyms, floors as appropriate. Orientation based on previous Acute experience.
